So last month, word hit the gun buying market Glock was stopping production of its most popular pistols in November and would be marketing the new Glock Model V in December of this year.

The change was of course spurred on by lawsuits and media blasts about gang bangers choosing Glocks as the must-have murder and drug dealer 2025 Pistol of the Year.

For the last couple of years, those murdering fools have been getting plastic pieces from China or 3D printed pieces, to install on the back of an ordinary Glock, and thus turning it into a fully automatic machine pistol with a cyclic rate of about 1200 rounds per minute. Historically the converted Glocks are akin to the 1990’s Miami drug trade MAC-10s and MAC-11s! Wildly inaccurate with spray and pray accuracy and oh so dangerous… to innocent bystanders!

Oh, woe to any gangbanger who headed back to school this fall without a converted Glock in their sagging waistband with a 32-round aftermarket magazine. Imagine other bangers looking down on you with your “regular” non-machine gun Glock! How embarrassing.

Chicago area bangers have been using and getting caught with so many of these converted machine pistols, even Illinois Governor J.B. Circumference signed a new law making them even more illegal than they already were! Yes, it is already one or more federal felonies to convert, possess or use them- but now see, they are more…well…uh…illegal-er in the state of Illinois with its own law against already illegal machine guns. Because we know how to be extra more lawful-ish..but better-er.

So, in October 2025, Glock without admitting any fault or liability announced, “…as of November 30th all Glocks are discontinued except 43, 43X, 48X. All Glocks will be replaced with new Glock V models. These will have changes that prevent switch conversions. At launch all will be NON-MOS. No pricing changes.”

Now, only three weeks since the announcement from Mother Glock in Smyrna, GA, the new Glock V pistols have been seen on the internet and in hands of select retailers. Glockstore, the retailer who leaked the original Glock V story last month (apparently before Glock was ready to release it) has some V models in hand and is showing pictures and videos as well as taking pre-orders, and Palmetto State Armory is taking orders right now. $549 for a Model 19 V. Same price. Different Day.

Well Uncle Mike, do not keep us all in suspense, what does the new Glock V look like? Did they take the opportunity to include many drastic improvements and upgrades? Nope. Did they move on to the much-needed changes to a GEN 6 pistol? Also no.

What does it look like then! Sigh… it looks exactly like a pre-Gen V Glock. Glock does not feature photos yet on their website, and stubbornly or ironically still have their mantra pasted on the web “Perfection Continues.” Wait, what? You had to make changes to “perfection” but can’t admit “perfection” needed changes?

The actual minor changes are underneath the slide and slide cover to prevent miscreants from removing the slide cover and slipping on a sear switch. The slide cover is resigned slightly and ramps and ridges in the bottom of the slide augment a new striker which rides inside the frame. You would not notice the new design changes or which model you have unless you looked at the slide, which is now clearly marked Glock V, and stamped on the frame. Whee.

Trigger is the same, barrel, guide rod and magazines are the same, and price is exactly the same as a pre-V model.

Also, in a step back, Glock does not offer any V Models with factory optics cut outs. Probably in a rush to get these “safer” models to the market first and will add cut out versions a bit later. Rumor mill says Glock will be giving up their MOS cut outs in the future and use something more like the rest of the world uses to mount optics.

So, who will rush out to buy the new V Models? No one I know. They do not offer any performance upgrades except they can’t be converted into machine pistols. But from today on, all new manufactured mainstream Glocks will apparently be V models.

Should you turn in your old Glocks or trade them off for cheap like a 2025 Sig P320 to get a brand-new V model? Nah. There is nothing wrong with them either.

Some online Glock owners are now hoping their original Pre-Model V Glocks are now kind of a gang banger collector’s item- and worth more money since they are discontinued. Probably not going to happen. With millions of them already out there in private and public hands this Model V thing won’t change the value of all older guns. I am sure there is a gang banger black market, but probably not enough to influence the “collectability” of every Glock that looks like and works like every other Glock ever built.

Alas, this would have been a good time for Glock to do elaborate redesigns and issue a new long overdue GEN 6 model. However, with the burgeoning legal bills against them, and the premature release of information it will be too quick for Glock to announce a new global marketing campaign for a GEN 6, which would be a reason to consider buying a new and improved piece of “Perfection Continues.”

Traditionally a splash like a new model line is made at the January SHOT Show or the NRA national show in April for any new Glock announcement. With the Model V coming out in November I doubt they will be ready to release a GEN 6 in January, even if they have been working on it quietly for years.

Hoping a GEN 6 will have overdue features like: a truly modular production with no trigger pull take down, changes to striker safety, swappable grip shells and abandoning the MOS optics mounting system among other things. Now that is a new Glock I would buy.
