Earlier this year, Glock dropped 34 different models from their production line in a surprising announcement. Turns out they were dropping most of the non-selling models and some Gen 3’s and Gen 4’s which were duplicated by other models, such as dropping the G17L when the G34 is ostensibly the same pistol. .40 S&W and .357 Sig chamberings were dropped due to LE trends moving away from those cartridges. Probably a good Henry Ford inspired business move by Glock. “You can have any color Model T you want, as long as it is black.”
Glock fans have been anxiously awaiting news about a new Gen 6 this year. Glock remains mum on the subject but is due for an upgrade over Gen 5.
Glock has also been under fire this year from various state and local sources because converted machine pistols using Glocks and a drop in switch are the favored gang banger weapon of choice from coast to coast. Glock was going to have to do something about those pesky criminals converting their pistols in the face of lawsuits and pending legislation, so a new model change seems likely.
Today, I was forwarded a snapshot from three different sources of a social media posting purportedly made by Glock Store stating:
“ …as of November 30th all Glocks are discontinued except 43, 43X, 48X. All Glocks will be replaced with new Glock V models. These will have changes that prevent switch conversions. At launch all will be NON-MOS. No pricing changes.”
I searched the websites and Facebook accounts for Glock Store and Glock, could not find any such notice. I also contacted both parties asking for comments. No response back- so far.
This V model may be the design changes anticipated to prevent drop in conversion switches. Getting rid of the owner’s removable back plate seems most likely.
Digging deeper into the internet I find the convoluted trail of Glock rumors may have first popped up on Glock Talk forum “3 days ago” with a screenshot of the purported Glock Store message.
Caguns.net, a California gun owners forum, had a copy of it from a poster who also commented that Lenny from Glock Store corroborated the November deadline posting on Instagram and asked if the Glock Gen 6 is now confirmed. So, this may be the first confirmation of a long-awaited new Gen 6 series of Glocks in conjunction with the mysterious V models. Maybe.
I did not dig any deeper and frankly don’t have the time or interest to delve into Instagram on a normal day. Being older than 14 yrs old I don’t indulge in Instagram about Glock rumors either.
Another poster on Caguns, also posted 3days ago information about Glock Shooting Sports Foundation (GSSF), a Glock sponsored competition group, which may have leaked the existence of both a new Gen 6 design and a model V variant.
GSSF purportedly has new entries listed by Glock itself on prizes to be given away via GSSF matches next year including new Gen6 designations posted next to G17, G1 and G45, and the V model appears 9 times next to the 17, 19, 20 MOS, 21MOS, G23 MOS, G26, G44 and G45.
I was unable to duplicate the GSSF search to see actual lists of Gen 6 and Model V guns- either through my own lack of uber-nerd research skills, or perhaps it has been removed from the internet viewable lists.
So what would a Gen 6 pistol feature? Are the Glock patents still held at Area 51?
Glock purportedly filed patent requests in 2020-2022. I found three patents granted in 2025 and two in 2024. Website Valortec.com summed up in a July 2025 article real anticipated changes to a Gen 6 Glock line up include a truly modular production with no trigger pull take down, changes to striker safety, swappable grip shells and abandoning the MOS optics mounting system among other things. The author thought the new Glock line would be introduced at the 2025 NRA Show, not the SHOT Show. However, the NRA Annual meeting was held in April of this year, so maybe April 2026 or at the SHOT Show in January 2026. Who knows except Glock…and they are not talking about it until it happens.
Ingesting all of these online rumors today, I am pretty sure I can rely upon all of the Glock rumors for redesign, Model V and Gen 6 at a trust level akin to a teenaged girl in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off who elegantly stated:
“Um, he’s sick. My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.”
I’m always against submitting to tyrants, but making them Newsom-compliant probably makes the most financial sense, for now.
