Have ya heard about this one? The People’s Republic of Kalifornia has a bill labeled AB1127, going in the state legislature right now, looking to ban the sale of Glock pistols and any Glock-like clones with a cruciform trigger bar.

Why? Because criminals might use them in more criminal acts like putting sear defeating plastic pieces on them and making them shoot as machine pistols in the general direction of humans. Other states are trying and failing to sue Glock for being too easily convertible- not to mention states and big cities trying to sue Hyundai and Kia for making their cars too “stealable.” Yep, ya can’t make this stuff up, and by the way don’t ever blame the criminal for his decisions or acts. They are just misunderstood.

The giant “We know what’s best for you” Nanny state are taking a firm but silly stand here. Their stated cause (deep breath here), because if you obtain illegal parts, and in an illegal act, put the illegal parts in the pistol, it makes the pistol more illegal and fire like a machine gun (Federal Felony) and just possessing the converted gun is oh yes…another illegal act. I think I got all the points in a row there. Yes, like banning cars because criminals might steal them and break speeding laws or crash into someone, or drunks might get intoxicated and drive in violation of DUI laws already in place!

California has long been known as a pioneer of ridiculous ambitious laws, but its latest attempt to ban the sale of Glock pistols takes aim at common sense as much as it does firearms. When you ask “Can it get dumber?” Why yes, yes it can, thanks for asking. You can buy Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glocks in California- but not Gen 5. Too Glocky I guess.

The proposed legislation, framed letting people legally buy more Glocks which some day could be converted by criminals in to machine pistol, limiting magazine capacities and banning models not on the state’s certified roster, effectively targets one of the most widely trusted defensive sidearms in America—Overreach much California?

Did you know just to sell a new model of pistol in the Golden State, gun manufacturers have to submit the new models to Kalifornia and they do their own in house testing for their own definitions of “safety” before they can be state certified for sale within their boundaries. No other state in the nation has such limitations. Some gun manufacturers have thrown up their hands and said in the rich American tradition “This is bullshit” and won’t send new models to California for state testing.

Yes, California, the same state that put a sticker on my gunsmithing hammer that says the hammer contains material which could be related to cancer if you ingest it. I am not kidding here, and no, I have never considered eating that hammer with or without the sticker.

Of course, they threw in a “it will reduce crime” aspect to the bill. Harumph, harumph, less of those pesky guns and the Crips and Bloods will finally just get along. Glocks are already legal in 49 other states who do not require safety testing, and of course over the decades there’s no credible data showing that California’s rigid handgun restrictions correlate with lower violence.

I lived in Cali when Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger banned .50 cal rifles like the Barrets. No crimes had been committed in that huge state with a .50 cal, but, well, you know, if they ever did, it would be bad then, so let’s use some good old-fashioned commie gun control on our captive populace. (P.S. I never wanted a Barrett .50 till Arnie banned them.)

Criminals obviously don’t pick up their weapons by consulting the California approved list of guns- they obtain weapons illegally and use them illegally, all of which is already codified. This bill, instead, penalizes responsible gun owners and law-abiding citizens who simply want access to reliable tools for self-defense. In effect, it’s a safety bill that endangers public safety. Wow the Zen of that sentence really gets me- safety which keeps you unsafe.

Will LAPD or the LASO have to turn in their Glocks on the off chance those guns could grow sear defeating parts while unattended and become machine guns?

Once again, a liberal controlled state seizes on gun control instead of addressing root issues like illegal trafficking, mental health, millions of poor people let over the borders illegally, or gang violence. The result? A bill that doesn’t curb crime, doesn’t make people safer, and doesn’t even make logical sense. But it does make a great case study in how not to legislate. Remind you of any state where you live?

I’m pretty sure this bill will pass later this week and become a new California law. Why do we care? Well beyond it is fun to marvel at stupid stuff from that state, this will set a big precedence for other liberal controlled states, like-oh I don’t know…Illinois! Big parts of the draconian PICA Act came right out of similar California legislation. Copy and paste baby. Copy and paste.

The Illinois/Chicago run legislature will be drooling and wanting their own Anti-Glock bill to prevent lawful purchases yet not impede crime or criminals like Gov Newsome will have! Why heck, they already have those machine pistol Glocks in the hands of Chicago gangs now! We could make them more illegal-er-ish. (yes, there are already state, municipal and federal laws on the books prohibiting importing Glock interrupting sears, making Glock interrupting sears, installing Glock interrupting sears, possessing those same parts, selling modified guns, offering to sell modified guns, possessing guns with the parts, and of course shooting those guns with the illegal parts at humans. But what’s one more gun control measure between friends and enemies?)
