We told you about this in the May 2025 issue of GunNews Magazine. The State of Illinois, Chicago and the Chicago Public Schools were looking at consequences for the “sanctuary” policies protecting illegal aliens. Well, we were on the cutting edge.
Radical, gun-rights hating Democrats running Illinois will soon have a choice: They can continue to protect illegal aliens with sanctuary policies or they can have their federal funding. But they can’t do both under the Trump administration.
This is a net gain for law-and-order if we rid ourselves of these illegals in our state – especially the criminals among them. Just look at what happened to communities in Colorado… they experienced a serious drop in violent crimes including homicides after ICE came to town and rounded up a whole bunch of violent criminal illegals who shouldn’t have been here in the first place.
This wasn’t on CBS Evening News or the New York Times, that’s for sure. Sarah Adams has it though (and the mainstream media wonders why it’s dying):
Homicides Drop Sharply in Colorado Cities Following ICE Deportations of Tren de Aragua Gang Members
New data reveals a dramatic drop in homicides across Denver and Aurora, Colorado, following Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) efforts to dismantle the Tren de Aragua gang. The terror group, a violent Venezuelan criminal organization, consists of illegal immigrants blamed for escalating chaos in the region.
According to data from the Major Cities Chiefs Association, reported by KUSA-TV Denver, homicides in Denver declined 58 percent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. Aurora saw a 36 percent decline in homicides during the same timeframe.
Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlin noted an even broader reduction in crime across the board. “The City of Aurora and Aurora PD are actually in a really good spot right now. Our crime numbers are down 22.8% overall,” Chamberlin said.
Who wouldn’t want those kinds of numbers?
Illinois’ political leadership probably wouldn’t mind. But they value their illegals more than protecting native-born Americans.
But that’s going to come at a steep price pretty soon. The Trump Admin put out a list of cities, counties and states facing a curtailment of federal monies if they don’t comply with federal law on immigration.
From Powerline Blog:
Today, the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) published,
a comprehensive list of sanctuary jurisdictions including cities, counties, and states that are deliberately obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws and endangering American citizens.
The DHS notice indicates that the official list was published in accordance with an Executive Order issued by Pres. Trump late last month. Still to come,
Each jurisdiction listed will receive formal notification of its non-compliance and all potential violations of federal criminal statutes.
And I’ll save you some clicking… Here’s the press release:
WASHINGTON — Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a comprehensive list of sanctuary jurisdictions including cities, counties, and states that are deliberately obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws and endangering American citizens. Sanctuary cities protect dangerous criminal illegal aliens from facing consequences and put law enforcement in grave danger. This action follows the signing of an Executive Order by President Donald J. Trump on April 28, 2025. The order directs the Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and the Attorney General Pam Bondi to identify and publicly highlight jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
DHS is committed to exposing these lawless jurisdictions to the public and making them accountable for not respecting the rule of law.
“These sanctuary city politicians are endangering Americans and our law enforcement in order to protect violent criminal illegal aliens,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. “We are exposing these sanctuary politicians who harbor criminal illegal aliens and defy federal law. President Trump and I will always put the safety of the American people first. Sanctuary politicians are on notice: comply with federal law.”
Each jurisdiction listed will receive formal notification of its non-compliance and all potential violations of federal criminal statutes. DHS demands that these jurisdictions immediately review and revise their policies to align with federal immigration laws and renew their obligation to protect American citizens, not dangerous illegal aliens.
