When was the last time you saw the US Department of Justice and/or its Civil Rights Division file an amicus brief to the US Supreme Court in a full-throated support of gun owners? Most of us can’t recall such a filing. Ever. And here we are.
Second Amendment issues are civil rights issues. https://t.co/SQixK0ZO6S

Oh yeah. Last month I talked about this Second Amendment Task Force within the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division as potentially nothing more than big talk and I’ll tell you why: The DOJ in general and the Civil Rights Division in particular were staffed with nothing but rabid leftists who hate gun rights.
And while the leadership may change, the people who actually execute (or lack thereof) the leadership’s orders won’t change.
Well, one way to eliminate malicious compliance (or non-compliance) is to get rid of the petulant children who think they can impose their will against the people.
If you’ve been following the news you will read that over half of the staff there – in just the last couple of weeks – has either resigned in disgust or key managers have been assigned to the equivalent of Siberia answering mail and stupid phone queries. I know, pass me the tissues. In fact, the balance have been offered resignation offers and 70% are expected to accept them… and that’s according to CNN.
Approximately 70% of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division is expected to accept a second offer to federal workers that allows them to resign from their positions and be paid through September, according to a source familiar with the situation.
The division employs roughly 340 people, who had until Monday night to accept the offer. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who oversees the Civil Rights Division, said over the weekend that more than 100 attorneys had accepted the offer, but the final number is expected to be well over 200.
The mass exodus comes as the division is being converted into a unit that prioritizes the Trump administration’s goals like dismantling diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, reversing policies on transgender rights, and combating antisemitism.
CNN previously reported the division, which typically goes dormant during Republican administrations, would be one of the most active and important at the Trump Justice Department.
Yes, Harmeet Dhillon is a disaster… for the liberal agenda. In this case, for in particular for gun control.
