Representative Hank Johnson (a Democrat from Georgia) made an argument for more gun control legislation by lying to an audience and telling them that sellers at gun shows ask no questions, and are more than willing to sell to violent criminals without a background check.  Johnson made the comments at the Old School Fish Fry & Block Party in Lithonia, GA

“We don’t need assault weapons on the streets but you can go to a gun show and you can purchase an assault weapon even though you are a violent criminal – even though you have a history of mental illness you can go get a weapon – no questions asked. Or you can be on the terrorist watch list or a no-fly list and you can go and purchase the firearm no questions asked –or you can go on the internet,”

“The internet and gun shows – you can get whatever gun you want as long as you can pay the price that they are asking, no questions asked, and you can end up doing whatever you want to do with that gun and we’ll come back in Congress and offer a moment of silence for the victims.”

Johnson, who misses nearly twice as many roll call votes as the average Representative,  insists that Congress Can Take Action.  He claims that the majority of the recent mass killings were committed by people who should not have a firearm in the first place.  He continues by stating these people have committed violent crimes in the past, and are the people preying on our communities.  He ends by stating these types of people should not be able to purchase a gun of any kind, including “ones made for the battlefield”

What Mr. Johnson intentionally leaves out is 18 U.S.C. 922, a Federal Law that makes it illegal for a person convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment exceeding one year or has been convicted of a misdemeanor of domestic violence from possessing a firearm.  In other words, he’s leaving out the fact that the law already prohibits people with a violent record from legally purchasing a firearm.  So unless he’s proposing new legislation that can literally predict the future, then his claims of “Congress Can Take Action” are really falling short.

This stunning lack of understanding of Federal Gun Laws should come to no surprise, however.  We’re talking about the same Congressman who was quoted as saying that he fears the “Island of Guam would tip over” if we stationed more U.S. troops there:

My fear is that, uhh, the whole island would become so overly populated that it would tip over and uhh, uhh, capsize”

And even though this is the same Congressman Johnson who, in 2013, voted to repeal “stand-your-ground” self-defense laws, he does still make a valid point:  Known violent people still manage to get their hands on a gun.  But how?

If we ignore, for a moment, the argument that begs the question of why these criminals, with a known history of violence, are allowed to walk among us in the first place, we are still left with the fact that the law already forbids these known violent people to possess a firearm – so… how can they manage to get a gun?

Well, if you ask the United States Government, the number 1 method that criminals use to obtain a firearm is via illegal sources on the street.

In fact, According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 40 percent of criminals obtain their firearms from illegal sources on the street.  Yet, despite that, the Obama Administration has demanded an overall reduction in prosecution of these Federal Gun laws by a whopping 30% since taking office!  A fact that is backed by even the most devout, leftist anti-gun websites such as MotherJones.com

Under Obama, federal weapons prosecutions have declined to their lowest levels nearly a decade

So, while Democrats in the House & Senate, sit on the floor sucking their thumbs and crying over “No Fly Lists” and “Gun Show Loopholes” the real danger continues to run our streets, unaffected by the media conglomerate and the agenda-driven politicians in Washington.  While Rep. Johnson fights to pass laws that literally circumvent due process in an effort to strip you of your scary black rifles, the real bad guys are still out there, shooting, killing, raping, and robbing.  And the national media isn’t even paying it lip service.

There are literally thousands of examples of these Federal Gun Laws being ignored, every single year, thanks to, in part, Congressman Hank Johnson.  Some, thankfully, end in nobody being hurt, but others end in murder, destruction, and suffering…  Such as this tragedy that resulted from a Straw Purchase in Omaha, Nebraska.  You won’t believe what the sentence for the guilty party ended up being:

  1. Hank Johnson carries his Race Card ™ with him everywhere he goes. He’s always quick to use it, just like his fellow thumb-sucking, Race Card ™ carrying Congressman Corrine Brown.

It’s just a matter of time until dim-witted Hank Johnson gets his own indictment. It won’t be because he’s black, but because he just can’t help himself.

  2. I am far removed from anything that has to do with the drug culture, but I’m going out on a limb here and say that Johnson is a heavy abuser. How else can you explain this stupidity and rambling speech?

  3. This guy would be an intellectual giant among prairie dogs.

Why does anyone listen to him?

His constituents must be fellow prairie dogs too. Let me guess: he has a high concentration of multi-generational welfare recipients in his district, right?
