November 11th is Veteran’s Day, a federal holiday, in which all federal offices are closed. However, a seemingly recent trend, not all schools are closed to allow teachers and students the opportunity to honor our nation’s veterans. That is, because in the general indoctrinating beliefs of public education, it is politically incorrect to acknowledge that war happens and that those that fight in those wars are honorable. This is a slap in the face to our veterans and the sacrifices they made to protect our freedoms. Are they not worthy of this one day of observance? So for those of you citizens and veterans lucky enough to have the day off with your kids, here are some good ideas to commemorate Veteran’s Day.
1. Start the day with a prayer asking God to keep safe all our soldiers state-side and abroad who put their lives in jeopardy to keep us and others safe in the spirit of democracy.
2. Make a hearty, all American breakfast of eggs and anything pork for your loved ones.
3. Put your plans of honoring our veterans into action.
4. Have everyone in the family verbally acknowledge at least one veteran this day. That means say “THANK YOU” for serving our country. Shake his or her hand, for crying out loud, as that is the least we can do. An amazing thing happens, they are not expecting it and when you recognize them, they feel it. You are proud of them. God bless ‘em! Consequently, it makes them smile and you too! Wow! Relish in that aura of patriotism!
5. Pay for their meal!
6. Go to a local gun range and practice your 2nd Amendment right! They would want you to!
7. Teach your kids about our rich history and how these soldiers protected our way of life. There are a plethora of great patriotic movies that instill American values and promote our sovereignty. Here’s some: American Sniper, Saving Private Ryan, Taking Chance, Bridge Over River Kwai, Glory, The Patriot, A Few Good Men, A Bridge Too Far, Guns of Navarone, Midway, A Band of Brothers, Forest Gump, Unbroken, Lone Survivor, Good Morning, Vietnam! etc….
8. Enjoy your day together! Their sacrifices allowed you to do so and freely you may. Liberty is a beautiful thing that pretty much only Americans enjoy.
