Trust me:  we have no love for Garry McCarthy.  He’s the hard-drinking (drunken?), streelight-shooting (while drunk), skirt-chasing (or so the rumor goes prior to his divorce/engagement) political hack hired to mismanage Chicago’s police department.   He’s also the dim-bulb who said he’d encourage his officers to shoot first and ask questions later when it came to law-abiding civilians carry guns.  He’s also been a champion of the elitist view that lowly civilians should be debarred the right to keep and bear arms.

Yes, Garry McCarthy thinks he’s one of the noble class.

He may not be so noble here soon.  Chicago’s black political leaders are meeting to formalize an expected call for McCarthy’s removal.  Why?

Because of four homicide and a bunch of shootings last weekend.

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News)New calls have surfaced for the chief of police to step down after 4 people were killed and 24 were wounded in Chicago this past weekend.

Why not Memorial Day weekend when a dozen people were killed and almost 50 were wounded?

…The chairman of the City Council’s Black Caucus, Alderman Roderick Sawyer, told FOX 32 News that his group may call for firing Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.

…”The Chicago Police Department needs a leader with a grasp of the causes of crime and clear strategies to address them. After four years on the job, it’s clear that Superintendent Garry McCarthy isn’t that man.”

Perhaps Chicago’s black “leaders” are wanting to make room to hire Baltimore’s police chief to tackle Chicago’s “causes of crime”.

  1. Those black “leaders” should spend more time fixing their own neighborhoods instead of blaming outsiders for failing to fix them.

Too many in urban (read: black) neighborhoods refuse to fix problems within, and instead cover them up (by covering for the criminals in their midst instead of turning them in).

Until and unless they fix their own problems, the rest of us aren’t going to really care about helping those who won’t help themselves to fix the problem.

  2. Sam’s right. Firing McCarthy won’t change anything.

The “black leaders” need to stop thinking like they are helpless victims.

  3. McCarthy isn’t the problem when it comes to crime. Aside from the drag he’s put on morale. But then again, morale wasn’t so great under the last guy either.
