Millions.

That’s how many travellers see our Burma-Shave style signs every year.

Millions of travellers, many who may not have ever thought, one way or the other, about guns, or what they’re good for.

We’re hoping to start conversations.  We succeed, thanks to people like these:

These are some Guns Save Life members, who sacrificed most of a day cutting brush, climbing ladders, and posting new signs.  Thanks to the Logue family, Adrienne, Olivia, Hollianne, and Ashlyn, and Bob Woodcock for trekking through the wilderness to service two sets of signs last Friday.

East of Urbana, IL, eastbound on Interstate 74, the new message reads:

I HAVE A GUN

IT’S PRETTY AND PINK

MADE THE BAD GUY

STOP AND THINK

GUNSSAVELIFE.COM

And going westbound, near the Oakwood, IL exit from I 74, is a new message about good guys using guns who are not able to run away:

WHEN THUGS ATTACK

AND YOU CAN’T RUN

YOU CAN DEFEND

WITH A GUN

GUNSSAVELIFE.COM

Thanks also to our landowners, who allow us to put our signs on their private property and allow us access to service them.

If it’s been a few years between slogan changes, the underbrush can get intense:

This picture shows the path we had to cut, through about 50 feet of foliage, just to get to the sign.

But it was worth it.  This is what being a member of Guns Save Life is all about

Doing something.

Not just on the keyboard, but out there in the real world.

Don’t you want to be part of it?

We CAN do it.

  1. Just look at those hard working “girls.” Great job!! Thanks for your efforts. You too Bob and John.

  2. I was back in state for a visit when I saw your signs along I-72. I’ve been following your website since.

  3. I’ve been reading the signs since seeing them as a truck driver. Now my wife and I look for them going to Indiana to visit our daughter. They did alert me to your website which I visit daily.
Thank you for your hard work. I’d like to start a chapter in my area. Quad Cities.

  4. I have read your signs forever and wondered what was up with them, but never went to your web site to investigate. Those signs must have planted a few seeds of thought in my mind over the years, because now I a gun owner, advocate, possessor of a concealed carry permit, subscriber to GunNews, and am taking action to convince a few businesses in Springfield, IL to take the stupid “NO GUNS” off their doors. Thanks for all the good work you guys and gals do, and especially the crews that put up and maintain the road signs. Those signs probably really irritate the anti-gunners which thrills me.

  5. Nice job guys and gals. And nice report.

Thank you Mr. Naese for keeping us up to date.

Another big with for Guns Save Life this month!

    Sam
