GSL Defense Training instructor John Boch discussed personal protection with some of those present at the preparedness event Saturday morning. Another presentation on communications was underway indoors.

Guns Save Life was proud to be a co-sponsor of the Fourth Annual Central Illinois Preparedness Expo held at the DeWitt County Sportsmen’s Club just east of Clinton, IL on Saturday, August 10, 2013.

Teresa Barnett from the DeWitt County Emergency Management delivered a great (and lively) presentation on weather radios, disaster preparedness and emergency communications.

Nearly 300 people came through the gates to see nearly 16 presentations on all sorts of preparedness and self-reliance topics from a host of instructors and presenters.

GSL Defense Training’s Frank Wright delivered a lecture on the legal issues involved with using deadly force in self-defense.

Organizer Marge Maier of the DeWitt County Sportsmen’s Club did a magnificent job lining up presenters and planning the event, working with local emergency officials along with Guns Save Life, the United States Rifleman’s Association, GSL Defense Training, LLC, and Live Free USA to help make this year’s event a huge success, easily doubling last year’s attendance.

The Outdoor / Preparedness cooking was a live, hands-on demonstration, complete with serving a “meal” prepared as part of the demonstration segment to those interested… and there were plenty of takers as you can see (and this was the tail end of the line!).

  1. Had a great time at this event… Thanks to everyone for putting it on. The only bad part was having to choose between presentations. BTW, signed up for GSL at the Expo… Looking forward to belonging to such a great organization!

  2. Wish I could have been there, but duty called this weekend.
Hope to make it to another one when I can.
Looks like a good time and a great learning experience.
