CBS poll reveals support for gun control plummets sharply

1. The “polls” never supported the gun grabbing to start with.
   This poll is garbage too. In reality people don’t know what the gun laws ARE to start with so they can’t answer this poll honestly in the first place beyond “feeling”.

   Gun control as we’ve known it is dead. Heller effectively killed it. Mentally defective will die on the vine because its so subjective and open ended. As the push to restore the right to vote to convicted felons gains ground gun rights will have to be restored as a matter of equal protection. This will AT LEAST have to apply to non violent felony convictions.

   All it took to kill DiFis semi ban was for ONE senator to ASK one pointed question.
   May issue is toast here shortly and the reality of budgetary crunches is already leading to tossing aside of shall issue structures that waste billions. Poll tax cases are inevitable making them even more unattractive to legislators facing huge budget deficits.

   Media wants nothing more than to end the flogging its getting I’m this debate. It wants it OVER long before the 2014 election cycle. Look for it to continue to “poll”” more like this and by bigger jumps- all in effort to put the whole thing to bed. It’s lost and it knows it.

I love this quote from Mark Twain, “There’s lies, damned lies, and statistics” With the exception of Dickie “Turtle” Durbin there are a lot of Democrat senators who fear getting reelected if they’re flogging the gun control horse. If Durbin runs again I plan on doing everything in my power to see that he doesn’t get reelected

4. I got a GOA alert with a link to an article that says the NRA is working to cut a deal to expand background checks.

   There is never a time for compromise. Compromise is how we got the FOID card and the 68GCA.
   Like my fellow poster commented Durbin doesnt need to be re-elected, Neither does Kirk.
   I figure we need to encourage a grass roots movement to awaken the sleeping masses to the need of new leadership for Illinois. With a 60% reduction/correction in the market coming it should be easy.

6. How can Republicans run anyone credibly against Durbin?
   Any candidate that would oppose Durbin would be opposed to Kirk on the same grounds.
   Oh and don’t you dare have the courage to call out weak kneed Republicans on their “leadership” decisions lest a certain lobbyist accuse you of “hurting the cause”.

   Me thinks folks should be wondering just what “the cause” really is. Sure looks more and more everyday like its protecting Democrats like Harry Reid along with the Mark Kirk and Kirk Dillard’s who are really just Democrats with (r) s behind their names.

   So stand aside, let the professionals worry about this stuff. Just stand at the ready to do as yer told by “leadership”. Can’t have all the little people screwing up the “good deals” and ” compromises” that are really for our own good and ummm safety.

   When folks are CONNED into begging for permission and misled into “deals” it’s the Dick Durbins and kirks of the world they end up begging from and dealing with. Poll or no poll, it’s time to stop being conned into asking for permission.

7. The words so many seem to Hate and ignore “Shall Not Be Infringed”
   We don’t need permission to own a firearm, yet some of us think laws like the FOID card and 68GCA are fine.

   I once read a quote from one of our Founding Fathers(can’t remember which one although it could have been William Rawle) that believed the meaning of the words were enough to STOP anyone from trying to pass Gun control laws.
   What a different word they must have lived in.
