Tom Shafer.

The Egyptian Collector’s Association Gun Show at the Orr Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, is on for this weekend.  It’s a great show, by the way…   if you’re not going to the big Indy 1500 show Saturday.

(Apologies for saying it’s the New Berlin Gun Show at the Sangamon County Fairgrounds… that was incorrect!)

Also on Saturday, Tom Shafer will be emceeing a short demonstration / get together at the Illinois State Capitol complex, specifically at the Lincoln statue.

Come on out and join him and a bunch of locals.  Bring your flags, small or large, along with pro-civil rights picket-style signs for a short demonstration in support of our civil rights and the Constitution as part of the national Gun Appreciation Day program.

Who could be opposed to the Constitution, right?

(You would be surprised!)

If I was a bettin’ man, I’d say Tom will probably lead a caravan of folks over to the gun show afterwards!

  1. Ummm, the Sangamon county fairgrounds is, ummm, really in New Berlin (which is not in Springfield).
It is the State fairgrounds which rests in Springfield.

I sure hope folks head on out here after the gathering in Springfield. We have a nice town and a nice gun show oh and a nice fairgrounds. 😉

  2. I’m old, not particularly bright, and I get confused easily. Could somebody please help me reconcile the following two statements?

    1. Today’s blog entry:
“Tom Shafer will be emceeing a short demonstration / get together at the Illinois State Capitol complex, specifically at the Lincoln statue. Come on out and join him and a bunch of locals.”

    2. Jan. 15th blog entry (http://www.gunssavelife.com/?p=4794)
“We at GSL have been fielding more and more calls from folks asking “should we go to Springfield on Saturday”. Our answer is “no” and we’ll tell you why (…) It makes as much sense as having a candlelight vigil in the daytime in a forest during fire season.”

    1. Yes, we agree. Yes, we noticed the incongruity there.

In short: Gun owners from afar, we still see no reason to make a special trip to Springfield for this event.

For those who will be in Springfield anyway for the gun show or those local residents, we’re making you aware that some folks are going to be present as part of this national “Gun Appreciation Day” event. It’s being done informally by some gung-ho individuals and we wish them the best.

      John
