What happens when you get a trio of ethically challenged social misfits together and they double up on their daily stupid pills?  They put their heads together and decide they’ll rob Craigslist buyers of their cash.

The only problem with their grand plan in this instance?  The would-be buyer brought his son who had a concealed carry license.

As Guns Save Life’s President (and former professional cage fighter) Bear St. Pierre once said, “Everyone’s got a plan, but no plan survives getting punched in the face.”

Or a getting shot in the chest, and catching a sucking chest wound, as was the case in Battle Creek last night.   Of course, sucking chest wounds always suck.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Battle Creek police say at least two people were shot in the city’s Urbandale neighborhood after apparently trying to rob two men they had arranged to meet on Craigslist.

According to the Battle Creek Police Department, a father and son from Grand Rapids drove to Battle Creek on Tuesday evening after arranging on Craigslist to buy a car. Around 8 p.m., they arrived at the meeting place — which turned out to be an abandoned home in the 600 block of Linwood Avenue — and were jumped by three men, police said.

But the son is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, which he drew and fired twice. The alleged attackers fled.

Two of the attackers were shot. One sustained a wound to the upper torso and was found about a block away near Woodlawn Avenue. The other was shot in the lower torso and was found in the 100 block of Broadway Boulevard.

If you’ve ever put anything of real value on Craigslist, you know that shady characters come out of the woodwork.  Make sure you exercise caution in dealing with Craigslist folks.

Frankly, I’ve given valuable appliances and other items away to trusted friends in lieu of placing an ad on CL and subsequently opening my home to would-be Craigslist “buyers”.

    1. Craigslist: internet “classified ads”, I watch it often, haven’t had problems yet, many “bargains” if you know new or reasonable prices.
