If you couldn’t make it to the NRA’s Annual Meetings and Exhibits in the wonderful Nashville, Tennessee, here is a tiny taste of what you’re missing.

I couldn’t be everywhere at once, but here’s some of what I saw today before I left to return home.

These are all in and around the Music City Center in downtown Nashville.

The guys and gals at Taurus didn't roll out the red carpet for the guy who tagged their new Taurus Curve with the nickname "The Taurus Turd".
The guys and gals at Taurus didn’t roll out the red carpet for the guy who tagged their new Taurus Curve with the nickname “The Taurus Turd“.  In a perfect storm of misfortune (or bad karma some might say) Guns Save Life’s “Taurus Turd” article had more readers than Guns & Ammo’s promotional piece.
Guns Save Life's director Roger Dorsett brought part of his award-winning Ruger display down to this year's NRA convention. Some years ago, his original display won "best of show" at the NRA convention.

Guns Save Life's very own Dan Sadler also brought an award-winning display of early Colt military revolvers. Sadler has one of the best collections in the nation.

One of Sadler's favorite pieces. It was quite possibly at Custer's Little Bighorn.

Guns everywhere. And nobody got killed. Nobody got angry. Everyone was really nice though!

A six-person 4-wheeler. No, Mr. Wheeler, we can't get one for classes. List price? Under $14k. Looks like fun. List price doesn't include rifle mounts or a pintle on top.

I'm guessing Yellow Freight would have preferred the matter to remain on the down-low.

  1. Thanks for the pictures. Glad you went and shared. While the wife and I were considering a trip, Thursday’s weather happened. We’re helping a dear friend and his family clean up storm damage and make some repairs.

    All the best.

    Sam

  2. Oh, and LOL at Yellow Freight. Charter’s people must have been very ticked off. I don’t think space is cheap at the NRA event.

    1. I’m surprised that the Charter reps didn’t just borrow a few guns from a local gun shop (in return for promoting the shop at their booth) instead of an empty display.

  3. Was Taurus’ setup always with that turdy color?

Or is that just to promote their already once-recalled turds?

  4. I spent some time at the Hodgdon booth. They told me that powder supplies are slowly coming back and are currently in short supply because of vastly increased demand. Last year they told me the shortages were because they could not get the raw materials.

I asked specifically about Varget and was told that Varget is made in Australia and has been very difficult to import into the USA.

The Hodgdon guy then told me that they are introducing a “Varget replacement” (his words – not mine) named IMR 4166 and that this would soon be readily available.

All in all, I’m not feeling very good about his answers. But, I’ll give it a try…

  5. Well call it what you like, after all this is your website John but it’s not that bad of product IMO. One guy ran over 800 rounds through it with only one FTF and thought that was an issue with the shell. I like Taraus thinking outside the box myself. No it isn’t a weapon like a 1911 etc but it wasn’t designed to be. It basically has many of the guts of their TCP 380 which I personally own. My TCP has been golden one of the very best triggers out of the box & I have never had a FTF in over 1000 rounds of mixed amno. Again my TCP doesn’t replace my 45 XDs for my daily carry but it’s sure better than nothing when the 45 can’t be carried. I was also at the convention and stopped at the Taraus booth with a friend of mine that had sent in a problematic mag for repair. My friend never heard back from Taraus in several months and presented this information to their representatives and at this point one of them opened up a drawer, handed him a new mag and said sorry this happened to you. I was impressed and told him I wasn’t going to tell anyone but everyone I know how he handled this.
