We like Gun Owners of America. Heck, they’re a co-plaintiff with Guns Save Life in our lawsuit challenging Gov. Pritzker’s PICA gun and magazine ban. But Gun Owners Foundation Executive VP John Velleco wrote a very poorly worded summary that has regular folks confused at best, and potentially misguided at worst. We owe it to folks to be honest and transparent, and not to misguide people into doing something that might result in them catching a felony.
In his email touting some court victories, Mr. Velleco wrote: “these victories allow GOF members to lawfully carry from one coast to the other.”
Here’s the letter.
Major Courtroom Wins for Gun Owners Thanks to Your Help!
This year has delivered some of the most significant Second Amendment victories in recent memory, with the Gun Owners Foundation pressing the fight in courtrooms across the country.
Because freedom-minded Americans stepped up to support this mission, GOF secured eight major legal wins defending the right to keep and bear arms.
With the year quickly coming to a close, a tax-deductible gift to the Gun Owners Foundation ensures we can keep fighting—and winning—for the Second Amendment in 2026 and beyond.
Eight Landmark Legal Victories for the 2nd Amendment in 2025
Coast-to-Coast Carry Wins
-
GOF prevailed in key lawsuits in both New York and California, ending discriminatory denials of non-resident concealed carry permits. Together, these victories allow GOF members to lawfully carry from one coast to the other.
This is NOT true.
True, GOF prevailed in key lawsuits, but folks need to jump through all the (often formidable) legal hoops to be eligible to receive the license in very gun unfriendly states like California and New York.
It’s not like you just buy a membership in Gun Owners of America and viola! you’re good to go from sea to shining sea.
