I’ve been out for a number of weeks and I’ll tell you why:  I have filed for divorce.

Packing my stuff consumed much of July.

Then a huge move (a thousand thanks to each of almost two dozen who stopped by to help out…  we got the bulk of stuff moved in two hours on that Saturday and a couple of extra noble friends helped on Friday!).   On days where the heat index reached well over 100.  Joy.

They all bailed before we assembled any furniture and I’ve seen why.  It’s a PITA.

Anyway, I’ve been unpacking and doing furniture assembly.  I can gauge my success by the number of boxes that get tossed after putting stuff away.  And I’ve already covered the furniture angle.

Add into that some filings (including a petition to throw me out of the “marital residence”) and it’s been busy and very stressful at times.  I would share more but I want it to be a surprise for certain peeps.

Police have already been to the marital residence.  No, I didn’t call them.  No, I didn’t leave in handcuffs.  But thanks for asking.  (And yes, I was armed.  That won’t happen again…)

For a while I was having some difficulty getting access to my kids but things seem to be better now.  Had a great weekend.

Look for some posts in the coming days.  Keeping up with current news, events and analysis has left me ragged and these last two issues of GunNews have required Herculean efforts to complete in a timely manner, but it got completed.

Something had to give though and posts here (and at Shooting News Weekly) were what had to get sidelined.

We’ll see folks in Pontiac tomorrow, Decatur on Wednesday and Peoria on Thursday.  We’ve got some good speakers lined up, as usual.

All the best.

  1. My condolences John, been there, done that and my nephew is trying to deal with similar stuff, his (soon-to-be-former) wife extracted him from their home on father’s day last year not long before his mother passed away.
Hope you are able to deal with the difficulties and get settled into normalcy as best you are able. Best wishes for you and your kiddoes, especially. Be well, and be strong for them, and yourself.

    1. May God bless you, sir. You’re deserving of a higher place in heaven.
By the way, I whole-heartedly and enthusiastically recommend Stephanie Purkes for divorce attorneys in Central Illinois, either as a primary or as a second opinion of where you’re at in your case.

  2. I was wondering where you had been. Hang in there. It’ll get better eventually. Your kids should be your number one priority. I’ve been in your shoes. It’s one nightmare after another for awhile. Godspeed.
