What in the holy heck? Trump pardoned a huge gang leader and frankly, gangs are the scourge of our state and our nation. At the same time, it seems kind of compassionate. He had been in prison for better than 50 years.
As an added bonus, there is a 200-year state sentence for murder that ol’ Larry will have to serve in Illinois prison. It’ll be up to JB Pritzker to offer clemency. Or not. This puts ol’ Tubby into a bit of a Catch-22. Will he have more compassion than Donald Trump or will JB look like he’s soft on crime?
WGN has the story of Larry Hoover, the rather famous godfather of a Chicago gang, had his sentence commuted today…
President Donald Trump commuted the sentence of Larry Hoover, a former Chicago gang leader serving a life sentence at a supermax prison in Colorado.
The commutation, first reported by the news website NOTUS, was confirmed by a White House official speaking on the condition of anonymity because it had not been formally announced.
Hoover was imprisoned in connection with a murder in 1973, and he was convicted of running a criminal enterprise in 1998. He later renounced his criminal past and petitioned for a reduced sentence…
Ron Safer was the lead prosecutor in Hoover’s federal case. He says from behind bars, Hoover led 30,000 members across 28 states, selling $100 million in drugs every year in Illinois alone.
“There are crimes that are so heinous that they are not entitled to mercy, and his are among those,” Safer said. “The last year that Larry Hoover was in control of the gang, before the federal prosecution, there were over 930 murders in the city of Chicago. And the Gangster Disciples were responsible for more than half of those. The scope of their control over the streets of the city of Chicago, over the Illinois Department of Corrections, and the breadth of the criminal enterprise is really mind-boggling.”
HEY, maybe ol’ “Jelly-Belly” Prickster will hire him as his personal “trainer”-life-weight coach, looks like Hoover has stayed trim and fit in prison, or, maybe his “grounds-keeper” for Prickster’s mansions, just a thought.
I no longer know who this man is that we elected president. He’s no conservative. Don’t forget he also pardoned our illustrious criminal Governor blowjobovich. What kind of a human being does this? How about doing what you promised us you would do when we elected you: build the wall and eject all of the illegals! Oh and appoint real conservatives to the Supreme Court this time!
You think America is so great? Let’s take for example “consent of the governed.” If the government actually operates by the consent of its citizens, then I would be able to refuse consent and disobey a stop sign right? So, when the cop pulls me over and tries to issue a citation, I can tell the officer that I do not consent to the stop sign and thus there is no ticket. Right? I know what you’re thinking. “What a dumb question.” Nope, not really. Because if “consent of the governed” was a real thing, then the driver that blew the stop sign would only have to say they don’t consent to the law and then there would be no law for that situation. What about armed robbery? IF a gang member went into a gas station with a gun and demanded some of their money with the threat of violence everyone would consider the gas station clerk to be the victim and the gang member the criminal. Right? Turn that around and let the government do the exact SAME THING the gang member did. In that setup, (almost) everyone would consider the government to be correct to collect unpaid taxes and the store who refused to pay taxes as the criminal. Do you still think I’m wrong to see that the gang member and the government are the SAME THING? Then have a little refresher course on the IRS. You think America is so great? IF a gang member murders you they go to prison. If the government murders you they can get away with it. It’s called qualified immunity for police and Trump believes all police are fully entitled to complete immunity. In other words, if a cop shoots and kills someone by mistake, there is no recourse for the actions. Thus, legalized murder if the government is the one doing it. The individual officer at fault gets away with it. IF there is a successful lawsuit the burden is shifted to the civilian class, or taxpayers, as in, the victim has to foot the bill when they are victimized. IF you are OK with that you are a statist under the code word of “Republican.”
You think America is so great? Part of police training is to control the people otherwise known as subjects they interact with. In other words, in order to be a police officer, you must be an oppressive megalomaniac – where you feel entitled to control people around you as if they were cattle. Why do some police departments have a maximum IQ requirement? It’s because if someone is say, MENSA, the top 2% of the IQ bell curve they might just see this entire setup for what it is and point out its injustice and master-slave orientation. An officer with a high IQ is less likely to be one of the “just following orders” types. Therefore, police themselves are to be obedient slaves of the system but you the civilian, are still the slave to the cop. Police and civilians both are slaves, however the police don’t complain or perhaps even realize they too are a slave because they are so obsessed with and enjoy being a slave owner themselves – over civilians.
You think America is so great? Try this on your next traffic stop. If the cop disarms you the legal CCW holder for “officer safety” can you the civilian then have law enforcement disarm themselves during the encounter knowing you don’t have a weapon? That would never happen. But why? Because it would level the playing field between the government and the civilian. By government’s self-appointed position of “authority,” they would never tolerate a level playing field because it would defeat the entire purpose of their desire to control.
