Gun-free zone fail.

It’s almost like those “GUN FREE” zone signs attract bad people with evil in their heart.

The photo above shows the doors just outside where a 25-year-old man was shot, execution style, late Friday /early Saturday.

“This ain’t Englewood!” the mother of the dead man cried out.

Well, when you bring Englewood attitudes, values and Englewood’s violent predators to McCormick Place, part of the economic engine that drives Chicago and is the location where hundreds of thousands of visitors come to see Chicago, then yes, you get violence.  Especially when you add some alcohol to the mix.

Chicago (Tribune) – A 25-year-old man was shot to death inside a Hyatt Regency hotel at McCormick Place in the South Loop neighborhood early Saturday, police said.

Courtney Taylor, of the 1600 block of South Paulina Street, was in a group of several men during a birthday party in the hotel lobby when a male attacker pulled out a gun and fired shots, police said.

Taylor suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was in custody as of early Saturday.

Inside the hotel’s lobby, police officers blocked off the area leading to the south tower of the building with yellow crime tape, tying one end to a hand-sanitizing stand near the front door.

Shattered glass peppered the floor near a set of elevators inside the crime scene. Several potted plants lay on their sides. Some chairs were tipped over. A bottle of Patron and a bottle of vodka lay empty.

Taylor’s body lay in view of the windows on the south side of the hotel.

Police found at least a half-dozen shell casings and one live round at the scene.

Second City Cop points out that the Hyatt has “premium” surveillance cameras, but the video – “to a straight up execution” – hasn’t been released.

Thank heavens the Hyatt was posted “NO GUNS”!  Someone might have gotten hurt without that sign.  We’re glad they had “premium” video surveillance, so we can see a nice HD-quality video of the brazen crimes.

We remind you about Lee Goodman’s bunch protesting a suburban grocer that refused to put up the signs:

But wait!  Signs save lives, right?

Useful idiots, indeed.

The only thing that stops bad people with evil in their hearts is a good guy with a gun.

    1. You are a special kind of stupid. The only thing cameras will do is maybe speed up the arrest of the jackwad that killed you. Dumbass

    2. I was being sarcastic. Wasn’t there a city that proclaimed gund weren’t needed because they have great security cameras?

    3. Doc, that was the CTA that was bragging on their improved security because of the cameras on the el.

  1. Clearly indeed.

Host an Amish party and look what happens… Those damn drunken Irish show up and start shootin’!

  2. I’ve attended conferences at McCormick several times, but stopped about 5 years ago when I realized how dangerous Chicago was becoming.

They have had shootings and assaults all along the “Magnificent Mile”. However, a shooting right at the Convention Center. Wow. It demonstrates what we’ve known all along – Chicago, including McCormick Place, is not safe.

The convention business is a huge source of prestige and revenue for Chicago. It will be interesting to see how Rahm and the Chicago machine spin this.

  3. It was St. Louis, also, after Ferguson, where the police chief said downtown was safe, because they had just installed more security cameras.

Now, along with “Signs Save Lives” perhaps we can have a movement for “Cameras Save Lives”

  4. Before anyone gets too weepy about the victim being some college student studying to become a productive member of society, let me disabuse you of any such notion.

He was a gang-banging thug (GD, I believe) with multiple arrests (including for gun crimes) and had even been shot once before in gang-related violence.

If he had been properly prosecuted, he would be in prison instead of the morgue.

But then again, given his thug-life membership, taxpayers have probably saved themselves a bundle with this animal being dead instead of incarcerated.

    1. Yup. I got that info too. He was Gangster Disciples. In short, it was a gang-banger party at the hotel, things got out of hand and the next thing you know, bad people are shooting. Thankfully, no good people got shot.

  5. Gun Free Zones is when someone takes away your
    Second Amendment rights. It’s unconstitutional.

  6. Please post the video when it comes available. I’ll make some popcorn and turn up the sound.

It’s always good to see when the bad guys lose.

  7. Chicago cops have “premium” video of the murder, and they still can’t solve it?

That’s pathetic. Not because the cops are incompetent, but because the ghetto trash hides their problem children from consequences of their savage behavior.

Part of me says they deserve the mayhem they suffer at the hands of these violent criminals.

They’ll probably kill again. Hopefully productive folks won’t be the victims.

    1. Hank you’re exactly right. There’s dozens of people who know which sissy/gangster pulled the trigger. The net result is “no snitching ” and one more case goes unsolved. Black lives only matter when some white cop can be blamed.
You know there’s all sorts of video of this, but not one photo frame on the news of who the police are looking for.
      Because it’s another black guy.
The media will do anything to keep that assumption out of the public mindset, even to the detriment of solving this case. This guy was no angel, but his family will get less help from the media, because the narrative must be defended.
      There’s your real racism.
