Dannel Malloy is a special snowflake of the highest order.  He gleefully signed Draconian anti-gun legislation following the Sandy Hook spree killing.  Today, he’s pledging to ban names on the federal “no fly” list from buying firearms in his state.  Nevermind that the “no fly” list is merely names, not identities.

Reminder: The “Terrorism” No-Fly List Could Easily Contain Your Name

(Town Hall) – Last night in a rare primetime address to the nation from the Oval Office, President Obama called on Congress to pass legislation stripping anyone, including American citizens, on the terrorism no-fly list of the ability to purchase a firearm in the United States. Sounds pretty reasonable right? Nobody wants terrorists to have easy access to guns and it certainly sounds bad when the argument is made that those currently on the terror watch list have the ability to do so. But here’s the problem: The terror no-fly list is a mangled, bureaucratic mess of over 700,000 names. Yes, there are names on the list that are connected to terrorism, but nearly half of those names belong to people who have zero links to terrorist groups at all.

So who ends up on the list who shouldn’t and why? Take for example Weekly Standard Senior Writer and Fox News Contributor Steve Hayes, who was put on the no-fly list after a cruise.

But travel to certain regions isn’t the only way you can get put on the list without due process. The Huffington Post (a liberal outlet), ran a piece in 2014 titled, “7 Ways That You (Yes, You) Could End Up On A Terrorist Watch List,” detailing the process of how the feds submit “suspicious” names.

Nevermind that his proposal will deny due process rights to good people who share a name with someone on the “no fly” list.  Nevermind the unconstitutionality of his act.  By golly, Dannel Malloy knows this is important!  He needs to DO SOMETHING!

What’s next in Connecticut?  Is Dannel Malloy going to round up people who have the same name (again, the “no fly list” isn’t identities, but names) and put them in internment camps?  Sort of like Democrat FDR did with Japanese-Americans at the onset of World War II?

Connecticut to Ban Gun Sales to Those on Federal Terrorism Lists

(NY Times) – Gov. Dannel P. Malloy of Connecticut announced on Thursday that he would sign an executive order that would bar people on federal terrorism watch lists from buying firearms in the state.

Mr. Malloy said Connecticut would become the first state in the nation to have such a measure.

“Like all Americans, I have been horrified by the recent terrorist attacks in San Bernardino and Paris,” Mr. Malloy said. “This should be a wake-up call to all of us. This is a moment to seize in America — and today I’m here to say that we in Connecticut are seizing it.”

The Connecticut Citizens Defense League is pledging action if their governor follows through on his press release and threats.

For Immediate Release:
Groton, CT (CCDL) – The Connecticut Citizens Defense League is speaking out against Governor Malloy’s executive order seizing firearms and denying purchases to individuals who are on Federal Government “lists”.

Comment from CCDL President Scott Wilson:
“Governor Malloy is planning to take what is in our view unconstitutional executive action that would prohibit firearms purchases and seize firearms of individuals who have not been indicted or convicted for any crime. While we are all concerned about terrorism, this approach is very un-American and shameful”.

Wilson Added:
“Governor Malloy has gone even further into the deep end than ever before. His planning on denying purchases and likely seizing firearms of individuals are on a list that have not been charged or convicted of any wrongdoing is antithetical to every value that this country was founded on. There are millions of people on these lists, many who are not criminals or terrorists, and do not belong on it”.

“Seizing firearms from individuals would be a clear violation of ‘due process’ under the 14th amendment of our constitution, and i have a hard time envisioning a judge appointed by the state of Connecticut who would issue a warrant to search and seize when the federal Government has not even done so in a wide-spread manner. Even the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has recognized that these lists are inaccurate, unconstitutional, and unfairly target Muslims and people of color Since the governor does not have access to these federal “lists”, my hope at this point is the feds will analyze Governor Malloy’s intent and decline access. This is very scary to think that police will be showing up to houses to seize firearms from people who may have done nothing wrong. It spells serious trouble”.

“The governor of Connecticut has pushed the envelope to beyond extreme by treating citizens of the United States in this manner. I hope people realize that this pattern of abuse is how totalitarian governments operate”.

Wilson Finished:
“CCDL will not rule out any legal course of action to halt this imminent Executive Action”

–End–

  1. Pretending to do something while really doing nothing. The lemmings will praise him all the way over the cliff.

  2. What the hell is it with liberals? They want to take away Constitutional rights from lawful American citizens but give them to illegal invaders that cross our borders and people from foreign countries that say they are refugees. I do not understand this. Actually I refuse to understand it.
