McCarthy has been fired as Chicago Police Superintendent.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Saying public confidence in the Police Department “has been shaken and eroded” in the wake of the Laquan McDonald controversy, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Tuesday that Police Supt. Garry McCarthy is out as the city’s top cop.

Running that through the universal translator:  The police chief had to go to help satisfy “mob rule” in Chicago.  Furthermore, the police union had no confidence in McCarthy’s leadership (or lack thereof), so it’s a win-win for Rahm.

As for the video that the mainstream media loves to report on (as it drives their readership/viewership and associated ad revenue), when viewed dispassionately, may or may not have been a justifiable use of deadly force by a police officer on a knife-wielding, PCP-addled teenager that had already displayed violence towards police moments before.

McCarthy’s ouster comes a week after Police Officer Jason Van Dyke was charged with first-degree murder in the October 2014 shooting death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. Hours after Van Dyke was charged, Emanuel and McCarthy released police dashboard camera video of Van Dyke shooting McDonald 16 times.

  1. Yeah, blame the guy that had nothing to do with it. Just stop policing their neighborhoods simple. Blacks don’t want cops so cops should stay away. If anything let them respond to the call, take the report, and pick up the body. No investigative work, no interviewing witnesses (like they talk to the police anyway lol), etc. Give blacks what they want. A city with no cops. Let the predators that live among them continue to live among them. Let them shoot and kill as many of them as possible. Let blacks suffer under this and maybe one day they will rethink their love and admiration of thugs. Let the cops either strike or stop serving their communities. You couldn’t pay me enough to police a black neighborhood. What a lost cause. A useless and depressing vocation. Screw that.

    1. Live by the sword, die by the sword. And by “sword” I mean “politics.” McCarthy plays politics by fudging violent crime stats downward and using each gang shooting to call for more gun control instead of addressing the problem. Now he gets to fall on his politics (sword).

    2. Actually the way I look at it, McCarthy had a lot to do with it because he is the superintendent of the CPD. He is responsible for all his subordinates. From my understanding, the officer involved in the shooting had numerous complaints against him for excessive force and nothing was done – a clear lapse in leadership and responsibility. This, coupled with the blacksite fiasco, among other black marks, is reason more than enough to fire an ineffective leader.

    3. As far as the officer having X number of complaints and “nothing was done”, did you ever consider that maybe the complaints were bullshit and investigation proved them to be unfounded? The honor students who are just turning their lives around all know that the easiest way to harass a cop and get him off your back is to file a complaint against him. While he’s being investigated, he can’t go near you.
As for the “black site,” what exactly was proven? Can you name anyone who went into the “black site” and never came out? It was a processing site to which arrestees of certain units (mainly Vice Control Division and Organized Crime Division) were transported for processing before going to a district lockup. Think maybe people arrested by Vice Control and Organized Crime might lie?
The “black site” story is the only thing that Alex Jones and Black Lives Matter agree on. That should tell you something.

    4. Problem is, a lot of good people live in those neighborhoods. I remember conducting investigations in the projects and talking to many honest, law-abiding people who are the victims of the predators and can’t get out. I particularly recall one elderly lady who, when I knocked on the door and announced myself, said, “I didn’t call the police.” I slid my business card under the door and she opened it. She didn’t have any information to give me, but she told me she read her Bible and “talk[ed] to the Lord” every morning. All the time we were talking, her layabout grandson was asleep on the couch at 10 in the morning.
Those are the people the cops are there to protect. (The lady, not the grandson.)

  2. The street lights can stand tall in Chicago tonight.
The ‘Street Light Assassin’ /(Garry) needed to go for a long time. More worried over an cop had a tattoo showing than having enough officers to man the city. Wanted to give days off without pay because someone said “good morning, Garry” instead of ‘Chief McCarthy’. Keeps trying to do end runs on the Cops contract like BHO with the Constitution.
Next they need to rid the city of Rahm and Anita. The voters have to clean up the mess before all is lost. It is on the fast track to join Detroit.

  3. while 99% are good cops some are not and chicago has always been corrupt throughout history and sadly we have some bad cops who operate on political whims right here too.

the news talked about gun crime as the mess in chicago when it is over run with drug street gangs that polticians ignore. same problem right here in east central illinois. but just like up north we have internally recognized poor training and too many rambos too.
too many current police ignore history the incredible previous cops- leaders and try to re-invent the solutions and rely on gizmos and gadgets.

and then they the 99.9999 % of good cops have to deal with same thugs day after day.

  4. McShitForBrains has said and done some pretty asinine things in his time in Chicago.

The irony is that he gets thrown under the bus for something he really “dindu”.

  5. Ssssssoooooo what do they want a leader that will let the black kids. Break into vehicles and houses and rob convenience stores and fight. Cops for their guns. And ignore police commands. They want the police to let them do this stuff ?? So their new top cop is suppose to let these thugs do their thing ? If they arrest them they want them released the next day ? Sure go out and do it again !!!!! I got an idea for them. Why not obey the law. And you won’t even have to deal with the cops
