Who would have guessed that gun stores in and near St. Louis have seen a massive spike in gun and ammo purchases in the past month?

Really now?

With black activists telling the media, “we’re not going to get change in this society unless white people are just a little bit afraid.”

With St. Louis cops telling residents, “If you don’t have a gun, get one and get one soon.  We will not be able to protect you or your family.  It will be your responsibility to protect them…  I’m serious, get a gun, get more than one, and keep one with you at all times.”  We reported on this on October 28th, if you have been visiting us regularly.

Well, a whole bunch of St. Louis residents – of all races – who weren’t gun owners have taken these warnings to heart.  They’ve gone out and bought guns.  Lots of guns.  Business is reported up 300% or more over the same period last year – and last year was one of the two biggest years for gun sales ever.

Ferguson, MO (KTVI) – Some St. Louis area gun retailers report a spike in sales in anticipation of the grand jury decision in the case of Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson.  One Bridgeton store, Metro Shooting Supplies, says they’ve seen a 300% jump in business compared to the same period last year.

Inside Metro Shooting Supplies, you find the most unlikely of customers.  Jill Wilson is from Florissant.  Marla Orr is from St. Louis’ central west end.  Both are grandmothers, and neither has ever owned a gun.  That changed for both of them Tuesday.

Orr says her reasoning is simple.  “We don’t know what the verdict is gonna be, and I’m scared.  I’m scared.”

Another gun store owner told the AP:

We’re selling everything that’s not nailed down,” owner Steven King said. “Police aren’t going to be able to protect every single individual. If you don’t prepare yourself and get ready for the worst, you have no one to blame but yourself.”

A gun dealer in St. Louis tells media he’s buried in first-time customers seeking to become gun owners.

Furthermore, concealed carry applications are pouring in at a rate easily twice that of last year in St. Louis County.

  1. “…you have no one to blame but yourself.”
Pretty much sums it all up.

    Stand your ground, Ferguson!
