Mayor Dollar on WHNT video. Mayor Dollar would have had less fallout by dancing topless on a stripper pole than with her silly proposal to allow cops to disarm citizens during an emergency.

Well, Mayor Leigh Dollar had noble intentions when she issued a proposed ordinance to allow police to disarm civilians following a disaster.

She’s probably heard the expression that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Well, all Hell broke loose after her proposal.  There was an explosion of outrage, not only among local residents, but nationally as news of the proposal quickly spread nationwide.  Mayor Leigh Dollar and her city became a laughingstock to Americans across the nation (and a hero to a tiny handful of gun grabbers).

She and her fellow city council held a one-minute long meeting to officially withdraw the proposal and try to make things right.

And then they grovelled for forgiveness for their well-meaning stupidity.

Guntersville Council Withdraws Proposed Emergency Management Ordinance

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The city of Guntersville is not passing a law to let them take people’s guns away, and held a one minute long council session to make that clear.

Mayor Leigh Dollar said a proposed ordinance to establish municipal actions as needed in case of disaster of emergencies became misinterpreted and misrepresented.

“It was never the intent of the mayor or city council to take anyone’s guns away,” she said.

  1. What she meant to say was they are taking all the guns now and giving them back during a disaster. Just like during a disaster she is going to give up her police escort!

  2. Just like they gave back guns illegally taken during Katrina! Right. Mini Obama supporters trying to push to see how hard we will push back. She got Pushed back allot harder than she thought. You guys in Guntersville Need your elected officials to sign a document prior to being or during the swearing in that prohibits them from writing or discussing any legislation or law that is in any way shape or form in violation of Constitutional Law.
