clunkers

Do you have unwanted guns laying around your garage, basement or attic?  Guns that have been fire-damaged, or that have been recovered from boating accidents, or inoperable relics?

We want them!  The more rust, duct tape or bailing wire holding them together the better.

Help the cause of freedom.  Donate your unwanted junk to Guns Save Life.  We’ll turn that scrap metal into Chicago taxpayer cash that we’ll use to help train and educate America’s next generation of gun owners.   How is that for delicious irony?

Contact any member of our board if you know them individually, or John Boch at jboch@gunssavelife.com or call me at 217 649-3702.

Here’s what we don’t want:  Sawed off shotguns or rifles that fall into the Class III realm of short-barrelled shotguns or rifles.  Anything fully automatic.  Anything with defaced serial numbers.

We’d rather not take serviceable firearms up, so if they are reasonably modern, functional, and have a value of over $100, we may package them up for a bundle and use them in a fundraising drawing.  We’re all about getting maximum bang for any donation!

We’ll use your time and date of contact to donate said item as the initiation of the Illinois mandated waiting period which applies to private transfers, and then after the requisite 24- to 72-hours have passed, you can deliver said gun(s) to us.   Tip:  If you just show up at a meeting and want to hand us an armload of guns without observing Illinois law, we’re not going to accept them.  We wouldn’t put it past Garry McCarthy to send some of his Chicago Anti-Gun Enforcement unit cops to set us up for an arrest.  Unlike the law-breakers you’re not arresting for murder up in your city, we’re law abiding.  Garry, we’ll save you the trouble… detail those cops to solving those murders you’ve got in your front yard.

If you have large quantities of junk, say ten barrelled receivers or pre-1898s you bought as parts and you want a cut to recover some of your investment, we might be able to work something out.  We’ve done that in the past.

Help the cause of freedom.  Donate your unwanted junk to Guns Save Life.  We’ll turn that scrap metal into Chicago taxpayer cash that we’ll use to help train and educate America’s next generation of gun owners.   How is that for delicious irony?

  1. Long guns hand-delivered from contiguous states are welcome, so long as we wait 24 hours. Sending them to an FFL would probably be cost prohibitive.

Handguns can’t be done via private transfer across state lines.

  2. Oh please don’t tell me these pictures are of the guns you guys want to turn into Rahm?

Most of what I see look repairable!

Please, please don’t give rahm anything that can be repaired.

Ole Rough mosin nagants can be repaired. A bad stock or a missing part is not enough to scrap a firearm. Even rust isn’t enough.

If you don’t know how to smith your own firearms then PLEASE, PLEASE learn.

  3. Wish there was a good way to send an old rusty 22 rifle I have thats missing the bolt. I’m located in middle Ga. I’d love to help your cause though!

    1. hey willaim search Ebay and gunparts corp for the bolt that you need before you get rid of your 22. Even if the barrel is bad please realize barrels can be relined or replaced. Its not that hard to do . search youtube to see how its done. Clean your 22 with WD40 and scotch brite pads or use transmission fluid and acetone mixed 50-50.

Guns made before 1968 are very valuable.

  4. Forgot to add ceramic engine paint can be used to finish a firearm. It very similar to the Brownells gun finish paint but its cheap

  5. Iam sorry to re-post. But I was just thinking that if we had applications for the youth classes to leave for them to give out would be a fantastic promotion gesture. Don’t you think ?
