Last evening's carefully scripted CNN gun control town hall meeting proved quite the circus.  In fact, CNN’s town hall looked more like an episode of Jerry Springer with a barely-restrained audience.  Given that Jake Tapper worked for Handgun Control, Inc. twenty years ago, it should surprise nobody.

What the fake news network didn’t realize is how the event played a lot like the 2002 Paul Wellstone memorial turned raucous political rally.  Respect, decency and civility all took a backseat to promoting the gun control narrative.

A lot of independents saw just how unhinged members of the CNN audience appeared.  What’s more, make no mistake the audience members were carefully selected.  The Atlanta-based news network has a long and sordid history of “planting” audience members.

CNN claims that's not true Thursday morning:

CNN did not, and does not, script any questions for town hall meetings, ever.

Really?  Let me queue up my family-friendly bovine excement detector.

From the New York Daily News:

CNN’s long history of allowing Democratic town-hall plants

…At the cable station’s Democratic debate in Las Vegas in 2007, moderator Wolf Blitzer introduced several citizen questioners as “ordinary people, undecided voters.” But they later turned out to include a former Arkansas Democratic director of political affairs, the president of the Islamic Society of Nevada, and a far-left anti-war activist who’d been quoted in newspapers lambasting Harry Reid for his failure to pull out of Iraq.

At a CNN/YouTube GOP debate two weeks later, the everyday, “undecided voters” whose questions were chosen included:

  • A member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual Americans For Hillary Clinton Steering Committee.
  • A young woman named “Journey” who questioned the candidates on abortion and whom CNN failed to properly identify as an outspoken John Edwards supporter.
  • A supposed “Log Cabin Republican” who had declared his support for Obama on an Obama ‘08 campaign blog.
  • A supposedly unaffiliated “concerned mother” who was actually a staffer and prominent Pittsburgh union activist for the United Steelworkers — which had endorsed Edwards for president.
  • A supposed “undecided” voter who urged Ron Paul to run as an independent, but who had already publicly declared his support for former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson’s Democratic presidential bid.
  • A staffer for Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois), a former intern for Rep. Jane Harman (D-California) and a former intern for the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Once a manipulative gardener, always a manipulative gardener. During the push for ObamaCare, Democratic plants spread like kudzu across town hall propaganda events. At White House “citizen town halls” in 2009, Team Obama hand-picked not-so-random “random” questioners who included:

  • An operative for the Washington, DC-based Health Care for America Now, the K Street Astroturf outfit with a $40 million budget to lobby for government-run health care that directed its activists to “drown out” opponents at town hall meetings.
  • An “unemployed” cancer patient who was actually working for the DNC’s Organizing for America and the Virginia Organizing Project, which coordinated lobbying trips and health care forums with HCAN.
  • A Democratic National Committee member and community blogger at Organizing for America.
  • The 11-year-old daughter of a coordinator of Massachusetts Women for Obama who had donated thousands of dollars to the campaign, as had her law-firm employer.

Using young people as horticultural conduits to shape narratives wasn’t an Obama invention, of course. Last week, Hillary Clinton’s town hall events featured two children reading scripted questions on gender pay equity and guns. The campaign balked at accusations that they would exploit kids and manufacture questions.

But CNN says, "CNN did not, and does not, script any questions for town hall meetings, ever."  Right.

Anyway, Florida’s Democrat Senator Nelson flat out said if the Democrats take the House and Senate that they will ban black rifles just to start.  Florida’s Little Marco Rubio folded like a cheap, miniature suit, announcing that he would now support gun bans, upping the legal age to own long guns and a bump stock ban.

Other hucksters appeared to tell us that 100% of America supports an end of private gun sales.  Oh wait, they called it universal background checks.  Nevermind that gun grabbers couldn't even pass ballot referendums in November 2016 without spending tens of millions of dollars to confuse low-information voters.  Even then, the measures barely passed by a razor thin margin.

In the final third of the evening, Sheriff Israel said AR-15s don’t belong in society, yet in the next breath he says he’s deploying rifle-armed cops to his county’s schools.  He wants more power to involuntarily commit the dangerously insane, yet claims it is fake news that his department had dozens of calls to the Florida school killer’s home and did nothing.  He suggests if a person does not support gun bans, then they are no better than the school killers they enable.  "I have been in lawr enforcement for 39 years and I know how to keep people safe," Sheriff Israel boasted.  Really?  How well did that work out for those 17 dead kids, Sheriff 4-star?

They have no idea how many guns and ammunition they sold.  And NRA memberships and upgrades the show prompted.  Some, if not most of the audience members bordered on on unhinged throughout the event.

The enemies of freedom hate gun owners.  They didn't want to just ban guns and take them away from us by force.  These radicalized leftists would just as soon just kill us.  They would hang Dana Loesch with a rope, right there on camera in front of that statist sheriff if they could.

Those people cheered gun confiscations!

And Dana Loesch needed a private security detail to leave that venue last night.  Sheriff Israel provided no assistance.  The crowd screamed "BURN HER!!!" as she tried to leave.

Folks, if you have been complacent about your gun rights, you better get right with God.  Because these radicals are coming for your guns.  And if you're not careful, they'll come for you as well.
