Illinois ‘SOCIAL MEDIA CHECK FOR GUN OWNERS’ bill introduced

January 25, 2019

page_5_social_mediacrop

Gun owners in Illinois now face a new threat:  Daniel Didech, a Democrat from Buffalo Grove, introduced a bill to have the Illinois State Police search through all of your online social media accounts before issuing you a FOID card or a renewal.  That's right:  Didech wants you to give the ISP access to all of your social media accounts, including your private or public posts, messages along with photos and videos.

This will include all forms of social media.  Including online forums, dating sites, …and "others".

What for?  "To determine if there is any information that would disqualify the person from obtaining or require revocation of a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card."

It's here, HB-0888.

Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that the Department of State Police shall conduct a search of the purchasers' social media accounts available to the public to determine if there is any information that would disqualify the person from obtaining or require revocation of a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card. Provides that each applicant for a Firearm Owner's Identification Card shall furnish to the Department of State Police a list of every social media account.

Is it just me or are gun owners in Illinois getting treated like African-Americans back in the 1950s?  What's next?  Segregation, fire hoses and police dogs?  All for merely exercising and supporting a God-given, Constitutional right?

This is rediculous and people will just obtain illegally you cant stop anyone from owning a gun all this is gonna do is make people break the law. Your still putting more innocent people at risk taking guns only this is hurting people in chicago making the violence worse

These people have lost their minds.  My birthright as a citizen of the United States gives me a right to arms under the Second Amendment.  NO WHERE does it say YOU have the right to imply my First amendment right of FREEDOM OF SPEECH or opinions declare me unfit to lawfully have a firearm.  So many of us follow the law and are not hurting others. People are going to find ways to hurt others no matter what sort of legislation you fabricate.  This is unconstitutional!

You would just about have to surrender your personal computer to law enforcement without them even issuing a property seizure warrant if you are required to give them social media information as it would be unenforceable otherwise…..not to mention a direct violation of 4th amendment rights….the "commie"crats are now fully entrenched and it seems like they just keep coming with no end in sight…..it now has become a part time job of emailing, filling out witness slips and calling elected officials in response to these bogus laws aimed at destroying our civil rights.

It seems that many criminal thugs have been aprehended through their posts on "social media". I do not and will not post on fakebook or any other social media site, too much drama involved from what I have seen, but…. I do post on GSL and write letters to the local paper about firearms issues as well as my political views. Anti-gun radicals would gladly try to silence me as well as try to criminalize my beliefs. Think about it.

"Social media" is a voluntary public (sort of) bullitan board, public information can be accessed by public (subscribers), soooooo, think before you post your life experiences on fakebook. just sayin'.

How about we ck their accts to see if they should be hung and tarred and feathered! We need to have mass hangings for the treasonous traitors attacking our nation and rights or mandatory jail in hell for any gun law proposal infringement of our rights in any way! The left has become violent and need to get their butts out of this country!

And when they have one of the intelligent ones who doesn't do any of the social media crap, what do they do then?

What happens if you say you do not have social media and it’s true?

I remember when social media was first started some people were saying it was an intelligence gathering operation. It would collect your personal data and some day it would be used against you.

Well it looks like they are collecting your personal data and its going to be used against you in the near future.

Not all conspiracy theories are theories

They say when you start thinking about burying some guns in the ground that it is already time to dig them up.
