In Illinois, The State Has a Thousand Eyes

Apparently, if HB-0888 passes the Illinois State Police are going to start searching social media (including forums) for reasons to deny Illinois residents FOID cards, which is the only way to legally own, possess and buy firearms or ammunition.

There is no definition of what constitutes a reason on social media to deny a FOID application.  So, our "friends" at the state police get to make up their own reasons and use their own judgements.

Why could that become a problem?  Well, since the Chicago Democrats (now) control a the House, the Senate, and the Governor's mansion, and since the Democratic leadership is strongly, bordering on rabidly anti-gun, it seems likely this will pass if they want it.

This bill will require FOID card holders to supply the Illinois State Police with a list of all their social media accounts and access to those accounts (passwords, in other words). So some guy or gal who knew a politically-connected patronage job dispenser and got a $15 an hour job processing FOID and concealed carry applications at the Illinois State Police headquarters can nose through your social media posts, your private messages and your personal photos.  Does that make you all warm and fuzzy inside?

Not only that, but rumor has it this will include all forums (IllinoisCarry.com, AR15.com, and others), as well as the obvious socials like Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and whatever all the others might be.

Personally, I’m shutting down my limited social media presence since I have no idea what the ISP considers reasons for revoking one’s FOID card. Certainly, I’ll be watching the movement of this bill closely and be ready to testify at the first hearing. I hope others will follow their favorite gun organizations about how to use your computer to register a record of appearance to show your position on this Bill.

  1. You are closing your social accounts. That was the real purpose of that bill; To limit your First Amendment Right and prevent you from communicating with people with similar views and opinions.

  2. but….only for FOID card holders/applicants? why not include all criminal offenders past and present, ALL politicians, government employees, illegal invaders who apply for driving licenses, ALL voters, etc., etc. etc., WHY  just  FOID card holders/applicants??????

    1. The good old FOID card biting gun owners in the rear; who would have thought that would happen.

I have been criticized for being against the FOID card for years. I realized very early, it was a tool for confiscation.

It has nothing to do with the Law Abiding. It’s about disarming the people in the name of government power.

The Bolsheviks want you disarmed and they will say and do whatever it takes to accomplish their goal.

      The Solution …

We need to educate and inform our fellow Americans at the local and county level to the need for a strong 2A and the just cause of Liberty.  By getting others involved we can over-come the Brain washing of the Left.

    2. I have a better solution, one that our founding fathers would have chosen should this had happened to them in their time. But that solution requires a hell of a lot more than what I feel anyone is willing or has the actual guts to do. So, instead, these liberal progressives will continue to strip your rights away, one day at a time.

On a side note, I would simply tell them to GFY on access to my private data! What  accounts?!?!

I am glad I moved out of Illinois a few years ago. Unfortunately this is creeping into every state, so there is no avoiding it.

  3. Piece of garbage metrosexual lied to the people about representing them so he could get elected to kiss Madigans a**.

  4. I do not agree with this bill.  This is an infringement of our 1st amendment rights as well as our 2nd Ammendment rights.  This bill should be turned down by all the state legislatures.

  5. This about spying on gun owners through social media and stopping gun owners from sharing info on forums.

    Total BUll $hit

  6. If this social media available to the public, why do they need our username and password?  Can't they just read all our public statements and get a warrant from that?   And what about equal protection under the law?
