Great Britain’s gun control is so Draconian that their Olympic shooting team had to leave the country to practice for their sport. It is a small price to pay for the crime-free society in the U.K., right?

The recent killings of two police officers – unarmed police officers – by a lunatic with a gun and a grenade has renewed calls in the UK for the cops there to be armed.

Of course, the elites say “NO!”.

They feel so much safer without introducing guns into their utopian dreamworld.

How’s that ‘disarmed’ populace working for them?

Well, here it is…  Violent attacks in the last ten years are up 77%.

The most violent country in Europe: Britain is also worse than South Africa and U.S.

Britain’s violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed.Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa – widely considered one of the world’s most dangerous countries.

The figures comes on the day new Home Secretary Alan Johnson makes his first major speech on crime, promising to be tough on loutish behaviour.

The Tories said Labour had presided over a decade of spiralling violence.

In the decade following the party’s election in 1997, the number of recorded violent attacks soared by 77 per cent to 1.158million.

  1. WAIT! HOLD ON NOW!!! LETs BACK THE TRUCK UP HERE. U mean: GUN CONTROL ISNT WORKING IN ENGLAND?!!! The Bumper Sticker is … RIGHT?

This MUST be a propapaganda article because LIB POLITICIANs in America INSIST – RANTING – FOAMING AT THE MOUTH EVEN – that the USA MUST ADOPT STRICT, NO-NONSENSE GUN CONTROL LIKE ENGLAND for us to be SAFER.

Dont tell me… U mean: They’re WRONG! WOW.
    : 0 Lib-socialists – WRONG! Im. FLOORED.

I wonder why they still want our guns then. Dont YOU!

  2. What is the rate for the U.S? I see the FBI said 1.2 million violent crimes for 2010. The population for that year is listed as 308,747,000. That would give a rate of 389 per 100,000. It seems low. Are we comparing apples to apples here?

  3. The following is untrue:

“Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa”

We have a far lower homicide rate than either the US or SA.
The statistics are somewhat skewed too, as “violent crime” in the UK includes being verbally threatened, spat upon, pushed, having a fist waved in your face, prodded with a finger & lots more in the way of general asshattery.
The actual rate of REAL violent crime is around double that of the US.
Note also that the UK Police themselves have consistently & overwhelmingly rejected the idea of being routinely armed, though there are always armed response units on call.

  4. Even if you believe Mike the Limey that “the actual rate of REAL violent crime (in Britain) is around double that of the US”, then the point is still made. That’s like arguing that gun control laws are not really, really, really ineffective – they’re only really, really ineffective.
