The high-energy, action-packed Gamma Phi circus returns to Redbird Arena in Normal, IL on Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8th.  Folks, make plans to take your entire family and any friends you like to one of those performances.  It's a GREAT, family-friendly time and you'll love it.  Promoters bill it as "feats of strength and derring-do laced with mystery, prompting the age-old question:  "How did they do that?"

The two-hour event includes a dozen-plus acts.

GSL's former first lady and I went last year.  We loved it.  Two thumbs up, with an exclamation point.  We sat there in awe of the whole thing.  Seeing these ISU students pulling off some of these dare-devil acrobatics certainly impresses members of the audience.  To the younger audience members, those high-flying artists are truly larger than life.

Even better, after the performance, audience members can come down and meet the participants.  Young kids can get autographs and get their pictures taken with performers and more.  It's just good fun.

Really, seriously:  Even if it's a drive for you, make that drive for the event.  It's worth it and then some.

Advanced tickets are available here.  Lower bowl recommended.  $15 for adults or $13 if you purchase 10 or more tickets.  Youngsters are $4 or $8, depending on age.  "Upper bowl" tickets are a couple of bucks less.  Plenty of tickets will be available at the door as well, so don't freak out if you don't get tickets ahead of time.

Here's the official write up from ISU.

Illinois State University’s Gamma Phi Circus will present its spring shows April 7-8, in Redbird Arena. With the theme of “Gamma Phi Circus on Broadway,” the shows mark the collegiate circus’ 88th anniversary.

Gamma Phi Circus delivers an action-packed, high-energy, live entertainment spectacle for its audiences. This year’s show will celebrate all things Broadway with a focus on favorite Broadway musicals. Of special interest this year, the Friday, April 7, show will feature a world record attempt in the Teeterboard act.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 7, and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 8. Before Saturday’s 1 p.m. show, there will be a pre-show children’s carnival beginning at noon with games and activities for all ages. That event is kid-approved and open to everyone with a youth ticket to the matinee show. Admission to the carnival is the matinee ticket. The pre-matinee carnival is sponsored by the ISU Student Alumni Council.
