For weeks, Guns Save Life has promoted a Tuesday, October 29th Mini-IGOLD (Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day) event in Springfield.  Well, behind the scenes, the Illinois State Rifle Association has been busy lining up some logistics.

Working together, the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, Guns Save Life and the ISRA have planned this event for the second day of the 2019 Veto Session in the Illinois General Assembly.

Senate Bill 1966 *will* be in play during the veto session as Rep. Kathleen Willis (now part of the House Democrat leadership) and Senator Julie Morrison (best known for her pledge to simply confiscate America’s favorite rifle in future legislation) have had all summer to lobby Senators to support their bid to hike the cost of FOID cards and require electronic fingerprints for applicants (including renewals).

Not only that, but the bill would also end private firearm transfers in Illinois, making it a felony to transfer ownership of a gun without going through a dealer to do so.

Because of this, gun rights orgs have come together to hold an unprecedented, first-ever fall Mini-IGOLD event during the Veto Session.

Obviously, SB-1966 is within a tiny handful of votes from passage.  Furthermore, big gun control will be out in force with paid activists and lobbyists, along with Moms Demand Action radicals to do last-minute lobbying to pass 1966.

The details.

Credit to Rich Pearson and the people at the Illinois State Rifle Association for lining up much of the logistics while GSL has relentlessly provided public promotion to gun owners.

We have rented the Auditorium in the Howlett Building.   Meet there at 9am for a 9:30am legislative update.   The room has a capacity of 300-400.  If we have more than 300 or so (and we expect we will), we will cycle two or more relays of gun owners through the update.

From there, we’ll be visiting our State Senators hot and heavy.  Press the flesh and encourage them to oppose SB-1966, and fingerprinting requirements for a Constitutional right.

Remind them how this proposed bill would create an undue burden on the poor, people of color and other disadvantaged people.

After visiting the offices of Senators, we’ll encourage our folks to hit the offices of their state representatives.

Wear your gun apparel.  Guns Save Life wear, NRA, ISRA, IGOLD, IGOT, gun manufacturer apparel…  (avoid camo and blaze orange, please).   We want everyone to know you’re a gun owner.

Why gun apparel?  Because those Moms Demand Action types feel “anxious” and “intimidated” around gun owners.  And we want gun grabbers to know that gun owners are engaged and active in the process.   And if they feel a little intimidated, well, that’s on them.  Gun owners are the nicest people.

  1. SB1966 is a Nazi dream it has everything but gas chambers as part of the bill.

Can we wear a Star of David with the words gun owner on our backs and pass out JPFO literature?

  2. I am surprised that SB1966 doesnt contain a provision to Bar Code every Gun owner, Christian, Conservative and Republican.

Maybe we should ask that question on October 29th

  3. I want to encourage everyone that can attend the October 29th Mini IGOLD event to PLEASE go.

I suggest you wear “Red T Shirts” with the Star of David sew on the front and with the words gun owner written on it

I would like to encourage those that can not attend to call their State representatives and state Senators office and voice your displeasure at the attempt to deprive Illinoisans of their Rights.

It seems that the Democrats are also now planning to attack the Church.

Seems the Democrats are not happy with just taking our guns but now they want to destroy our Christian heritage.

Please share the link and encourage others to get involved.
The Link is from a christian ministry.

    1. I think you are confused. That link is to a YouTube channel for anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, not a Christian ministry.

    2. Our second amendment comes from an understanding by our Founding fathers of Christian Liberty and the Rights of a Free man.

Pastor Rick is a True man of God and His ministry doesn’t hold back; they tell it like it is and it upsets people.

Today’s message is another message about the coming Civil War, including the war on guns and our Christian heritage.

  4. This is a good example of why gun owners need to get involved and attend the IGOLD.

An 84 year old retired police officer working as a school crossing guard finds the local school security officer setting in a restaurant sipping coffee when he should have been at the school.

The old man chastises the resource officer in a private conversation for not doing his job; So what happened they Red Flagged the old man. The mans guns and conceal carry permit was seized by the local police department.

    1. Sounds good.

Please continue to encourage others to get involved.

Thank you for supporting our 2A rights.

  5. The Democrats treat gun owners and tax payers like we are their Bitch.

I’m real tired of that nonsense.

  6. I’m going to have a copy of Gun News in my back pocket. Sticking out. Where the whole world can see it.
