| SHOWDOWN in Springfield 1250 – 1400 law abiding Illinios residents say "Enough is Enough!" to more onerous proposed gun legislation. Springfield (GSL) - Illinois gun owners, unified across groups and speaking in a politically thunderous roar, made their voices herard in Springfield on March 14 at the IGOLD Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day. Estimates of attendance ranged from a low estimate of 1250 to a high estimate (in a newspaper report) of 2000. What is known is that nearly 1100 people attended the orientation sessions in the Howlett building, and hundreds more came, saw the lines waiting to get into the orientation sessions, and just went straight to lobbying their legislators. Several sessions were needed, as the biggest auditorium that could be made available to us in the Capitol complex would only hold about 600 people. After the orientation sessions, you couldn’t walk down a hallway in the Capitol complex without stumbling over dozens of concerned gunowners, many wearing IGOLD gold t-shirts . IGOLD attendees also made appearances in legislative committee rooms throughout the afternoon. They were easily identifiable by the legislators and the staff members. For pictures and reports from some of the individuals who attended, see pages 10 and 11 of this issue of GunNews. Thank you to all who attended. If we pull this one out, it will be you who helped tip the scales in our favor. ![]() Just some of the folks on the two buses sent with Guns Save Life and Illinois Carry.com members.
