The Free Publicity of a Boycott

They say that there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Unfortunately for the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show, I don’t think that’s the case for the news generated by their ban on modern rifles. All of the regional headlines about the show just a couple of weeks out are now about the volume of exhibitors who are pulling out of the show and leaving empty booth space behind. That is decidedly bad when it comes to convincing consumers that they should hand over $14 a day to browse empty tables.

Bill Clinton with his hands on Cameron Diaz.

While some Democrats seem almost suicidal in their jihad to ban guns, Bill Clinton is sounding the warning klaxon to more level-headed Democrats in their latest and most vigorous push against the Constitution and our civil rights.

Bill Clinton to Democrats: Don’t trivialize gun culture

(Politico) – Clinton recalled Al Gore’s 2000 campaign against George W. Bush in Colorado, where a referendum designed to close the so-called gun show loophole shared the ballot with the presidential ticket. Gore publicly backed the proposal, while Bush opposed it.

Though the referendum passed with 70 percent of the vote, Gore lost the state. Clinton said that the reason was because a good chunk of the referendum’s opponents were single-issue voters who automatically rejected Gore as anti-gun.

And Clinton said that passing the 1994 federal assault weapons ban “devastated” more than a dozen Democratic lawmakers in the 1994 midterms — and cost then-Speaker of the House Tom Foley (D-Wash.) his job and his seat in Congress.

Virginia Democrat Delegate Joseph Morrissey brandishes a rifle on the House of Delegates floor.  Note his thumb on the trigger.

Speaking of Jihadist Democrats, recall that Virginia State delegate who brought an ugly black rifle to the floor of the House of Delegates in Virginia, carelessly brandishing it to argue his opposition to freedom and civil rights.

Well, he’s drawn the attention of gun owners who have fleshed out the Democrat’s resume, noting that he had been disbarred, sanctioned over prosecutorial misconduct and spent time in jail for contempt of federal court.

A Virginia lawmaker who drew gasps from his colleagues when he brandished a borrowed AK-47 during an anti-gun speech Thursday was found guilty in 2002 of committing a vicious 1999 assault, was sanctioned for legal misconduct while prosecuting a rape case, spent six months in jail for contempt of a federal court, and saw his law license revoked in 2003.

Democratic Delegate Joseph Morrissey brought the rifle to the floor of the House of Delegates to demonstrate how easy it is to carry firearms in Virginia. Republican Delegate Todd Gilbert interrupted Morrissey’s speech to ask him to remove his finger from inside the gun’s trigger-guard — a basic gun-safety practice.

“I don’t think you should be able to possess an assault rifle,” Morrissey told ABC News on Friday.

But while Morrissey introduced a gun-control bill Thursday aimed at reducing criminal violence in Virginia, he has a history that involves physical violence of another kind. (RELATED: Politician responsible for brutal assault may run for Va. attorney general)

Morrissey paid a man $500,000 in 2007 to settle a 2002 court judgment against him, related to a 1999 physical assault.

According to legal brief filed by the victim’s attorneys, Morrissey shouted, “I’m going to kill you. I’m going to beat your head in,” before beating the victim and “smash[ing] his head into the corner of a brick wall.”

And while we enjoy our successes defending our rights, those opposed to civil rights become even more shrill in their protestations.

Check out this trash from the New York Times…  The founders of our nation surely rue the sacrifices they made to secure our freedom to have contemporary Americans cast those freedoms aside so casually.

Please Take Away My Right to a Gun

…since most people like me are more likely to harm ourselves than to turn into mass-murdering monsters, our leaders should do more to keep us safe from ourselves.

Please take away my Second Amendment right. Do more to help us protect ourselves because what’s most likely to wake me in the early hours isn’t a man’s body slamming at my door but depression, that raven, tapping, rapping, banging for relief.

I have a better chance of surviving if I never have the option of being able to pull the trigger.

Financial woes humble New York Times

NEW YORK (AFP) — The cash-strapped New York Times put up for sale on Monday its most treasured piece of property: the front page.

After staff cuts, page reductions, and plans to re-mortgage the gleaming Manhattan headquarters, the daily has now opened its editorial holy of holies to advertising.

And last, but not least!

And then there’s the Democrat state legislator from Nevada arrested Saturday while possessing a gun for threatening to shoot a fellow Democrat lawmaker.

(Las Vegas Sun) – A Democratic assemblyman is in jail, arrested for threatening Democratic Speaker-elect Marilyn Kirkpatrick, according to North Las Vegas Police and Democratic sources familiar with the situation.

Assemblyman Steven Brooks, 40, of North Las Vegas made threats to harm a public official Saturday afternoon, police said in a news release Sunday morning. A source said he was arrested with a loaded gun after threatening to shoot Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick and witnesses who corroborated the allegation prompted police to begin searching for Brooks. About 5:30 p.m., Brooks was seen driving in the area of Carey Avenue and Mt. Hood Street, where he was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop.

Another Democratic source with knowledge of the situation said Brooks publicly threatened to harm Kirkpatrick because he was unhappy with the committee assignments given to him by Kirkpatrick. The 2013 Legislature begins Feb. 4.

One thought on “Gunowner pushback growing against the jihad on guns”
  1. It seems there are two categories of grabber. Violent folks who recognize their own inability to conduct themselves in a civil manner and thus project their uncivilized nature onto law abiding gun owners, and people who flat out victimize people and are afraid of their victim pool shrinking and possibly providing a danger to them in the course of their crime.
