For a guy whose administration was so eager to give guns to the criminal gangs of the Mexican drug cartels in his Fast and Furious scandal, Obama’s been pretty adamant about trying to disarm law-abiding Americans.   He’s spent the day bloviating that he’s going to do this and he’s going to do that about gun control.

Of course, he follows his tried and true formula.  He states his support for the conservative position and then says “but” which is followed by leftist drivel that would make Karl Marx proud as a peacock.

Today, Obama said, “The issue here is not whether or not we believe in the 2nd Amendment. The issue is whether there are sensible steps we can take so that the individual in Newtown can’t walk into a school and gun down a bunch of children in a shockingly rapid fashion. Certainly we can do something about that.”

There you go.  A slight modification to the old Obama formula.

We differ from Barack Hussein in that we recognize this is an issue of whether we believe in the ideals espoused by our Founding Fathers as opposed to trying to recreate past tyrannies with “sensible” steps.

This is why gun owners nationwide are mobilizing for a fight to defend and protect their civil rights.

It happened in Illinois starting on New Year’s Day, as leftist Chicago Democrats in the Illinois General Assembly thought they could ride the wave of hysteria from the Newtown, CT massacre to pass a flat ban on modern firearms.  All semi-autos would have been banned.  All pump-action shotguns and rifles would have been banned.

Yes, they wanted to ban your Remington 970.

The wanted to drive public ranges out of existence with onerous rules and regulations, too.

Illinois gun owners mobilized more aggressively than I’ve seen in fifteen years of gun rights activism.

Freedom-hating Chicago Democrats wanted to a ban on guns.

We gave them a humiliating defeat instead.

Now they are trying their hand in New York State.

(NBC New York) – A key New York Senate leader and the Assembly speaker said they expect the state Legislature to vote Monday to enact what would be the nation’s first gun control measure following last month’s Connecticut school shooting.
“I think when all is said and done, we are going to pass a comprehensive gun bill today,” Sen. Jeffrey Klein told reporters Monday morning. “I’m very excited about it. I am very confident we are going to vote on a comprehensive bill that will be agreed on by the governor, the Senate and Assembly.”
People familiar with closed-door negotiations told The Associated Press a tentative deal was struck over the weekend.
The tentative agreement would further restrict New York’s ban on assault weapons, limit the size of magazines to seven bullets, down from the current 10, and enact more stringent background checks for sales. Other elements, pushed by Republicans, would refine a mental health law to make it easier to confine people determined to be a threat to themselves or others.

The mainstream media is trumpeting this supposed deal to pass the nation’s strictest gun control on New York State residents, including a seven-round magazine capacity limit.  We suspect this is just propaganda from the gun haters in the mainstream media.

Like Illinois, where the media touted supposed “sure things” happening in terms of scaling back our gun rights, it was all just wishful thinking on the part of those who oppose personal freedom and liberty.  They tried to intimidate gun owners into rolling over to the “inevitable” and in the end, they didn’t even hold the votes because they didn’t have them after gun owners had their say!

We call that rationing our rights.

New York State Senate chambers. Leftist, freedom-hating politicians are trying to ban the guns commonly used by New York State’s residents to defend their homes and families from violent attack.

We’ll see how the votes go in the New York Legislature, but at the national level, the gun banners don’t hold the cards in Congress.

Because Barack Obama doesn’t have the votes he needs to pass the gun bans he so desperately desires, he’s making claims that he can enact restrictions of our Constitutionally-protected rights through Executive Orders.

Obama: Some Gun Control Measures ‘I Can Accomplish Through Executive Action’

[Editor:  I’ll spare you looking at Obama’s face again.]

(The Weekly Standard) – “My understanding is the vice president’s going to provide a range of steps that we can take to reduce gun violence,” said Obama. “Some of them will require legislation, some of them I can accomplish through executive action. And so I will be reviewing those today, and as I said, I will speak in more detail to what we’re going to go ahead and propose later in the week. But I’m confident that there are some steps that we can take that don’t require legislation and that are within my authority as president, and where you get a step that, has the opportunity to reduce the possibility of gun violence, then i want to go ahead and take it.”

Limit our Constitutional rights through Executive Order?   That’s easier said that done.

Executive gun ‘order’ easier said than done

(Washington Times) – The administration is eyeing unilateral steps on gun control, but analysts said there are few things President Obama can do on his own because gun control is one area where Congress has jealously guarded its power to make the laws.

In many areas, Congress writes broad laws but gives the executive branch wide discretion to write rules and regulations. Not so with guns.

“The problem with gun control is that Congress has been extraordinarily explicit,” said John Hudak, a scholar on executive power at the Brookings Institution. “When gun-control legislation is passed, it is usually very detailed in what Congress intended and it is usually very detailed in the barriers it sets up for the executive branch. That limits presidential authority to use executive power because there is little discretion.”

And then there’s Obama blaming all these gun sales on the greed of gun makers.

Meanwhile Wal-Mart says it’s not reordering ammunition in light of potential government “action”.

Hmm.  The link to CNS News was taken down.  Maybe that was just a rumor.

Take a deep breath folks (well, except readers from New York State).

It’s going to be okay.

  1. We need to stay mobilized.

If they have success in one state, others will use that as an excuse to push forward.

You need to find a car full of friends who haven’t been to IGOLD (Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day, coming up March 6) and bring them that day. And if you haven’t been going to IGOLD the past few years, you could be doing more to maintain your rights.

    Plan on going. Plan now.

  2. ● ➪ “ALL EXECUTIVE ORDERS ARE ILLEGAL, if you read The Constitution you will see in Article II Sections 1. – 4 — that the POTUS powers are few – The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.

    ● He shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court, and all other officers of the United States, whose appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by law: but the Congress may by law vest the appointment of such inferior officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the courts of law, or in the heads of departments.

    ● The President shall have power to fill up all vacancies that may happen during the recess of the Senate, by granting commissions which shall expire at the end of their next session.
    Section 3.

    ● He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in case of disagreement between them, with respect to the time of adjournment, he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper; he shall receive ambassadors and other public ministers; he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed, and shall commission all the officers of the United States.
    Section 4.

    ● The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. NO WHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION DOES THE POTUS HAVE THE RIGHT TO ISSUE EXECUTIVE ORDERS AS LAW. THIS IS DICTATORSHIP AND IS ILLEGAL AS THE CONSTITUTION IS THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND. — ONLY CONGRESS CAN WRITE LEGISLATION AND THE POTUS SIGNS OFF ON IT. THE JUDICIARY UPHOLDS IT AND THE POTUS THEN INSURES THAT THE LAW IS CARRIED OUT. CONGRESS CAN ONLY PASS THOSE LAWS WHICH DO NOT CONFLICT WITH THE CONSTITUTION. — WHAT BHO HAS DONE IS TREASON.”
