Two juveniles furthering their on-the-job training to become America's criminal class had their burglary party interrupted by the 61-year-old homeowner when he stopped by Sunday morning to do some work remodeling the place.  The 16-year-old and an 11-year-old, thinking that good guys in Illinois never have the means or mind to fight back, aggressively came after the homeowner.  Unfortunately for them, they made a nearly fatal error in the victim selection process as the homeowner pulled his licensed pistol and shot the 16-year-old.  The 11-year-old literally hurt himself getting out of the place like his hair was afire, and needed treatment at a nearby hospital for his injuries.

Police took custody of both, for the time being.  The homeowner was never taken into custody and charges are very unlikely.

The Chicago Tribune has it all, including the misspelled "burglery" in the caption:

Chicago (Tribune) – A 61-year-old man shot at two intruders, 11 and 16, injuring the older boy during a burglary Sunday morning on the South Side, police said.

The 16-year-old was hit in the lower back and right hand and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition has stabilized. The 11-year-old suffered a laceration to the back of his head, possibly while fleeing, and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, police said.

Charges are pending for both boys.

The man, who had a valid concealed carry license, was not injured during the incident, which happened about 8:25 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Rhodes Avenue, in the city’s West Woodlawn neighborhood, police said.

Good work, citizen.

If you want to come out this coming Sunday to the Guns Save Life meeting in Orland Park, I'll buy your dinner.

  1. The conceal carry homeowner is helping to "REMODEL" the HOOD to a neighborhood. Inspite of no standards of behavior applied.
