Gabby Giffords’ Americans for Responsible Solutions, fresh off a humiliating defeat in Illinois this spring and summer, has thrown their limited weight behind Illinois’ sad excuse for a senator Mark Kirk in his bid for re-election.

Kirk, a back-bencher in the Senate who lucked into winning the 2010 race for his office, is running for his life this year.  This after a serious stroke that’s left some wondering if Kirk’s stroke has left him completely mentally incompetent.

For instance, in 2014, Kirk endorsed Democrat Dick Durbin over Republican Jim Oberweis for U.S. Senate.

“I’m going to be protecting my relationship with Dick and not launching into a partisan jihad that hurts our partnership to both pull together for Illinois,” Kirk said Monday during an event for Texas Senator John Cornyn.

The Sun-Times has the story:

WASHINGTON — Sen. Mark Kirk, who is locked in a re-election battle with Rep. Tammy Duckworth, was endorsed on Monday by the anti-gun violence PAC founded by former Rep. Gabby Giffords, D-Ariz., because of a vote he cast after the Sandy Hook school slaughter.

Though Giffords is a Democrat, her Americans for Responsible Solutions political arm would be ineffective if it refused to back Republicans who support legislation to curb gun violence.

He’s a spineless Republican in name only, who doesn’t even follow his party’s platform on much of anything.

He’s got this election wrapped up thanks to having Gabby Giffords behind him.

Just kidding.

According to the latest polls, he’s down six points.

He’s probably praying that he’ll be able to ride Donald Trump’s coattails into re-election, even th0ugh he’s proclaimed that he can’t support his party’s nominee for president.

  1. Not saying Kirk is the ideal choice. But if Duckworthless gets in she will NEVER leave. Also make for “D’s” in the senate for the count to control the chamber. Gabby is just messing with gun owners that usually vote “R”. She wants worthless to win.

  2. He was already underwater with the voters, having Gabby on his side will make sure he sinks to the bottom. I’ll bet that Duckworth can be voted out in the next election when she has a real republican opponent. I’d rather see this RINO get the boot and give us a chance to get a solid candidate in there. Its the most expedient way to rid us of this traitor.

    1. This is Illinois, never bet on a Democrat losing. You can not assume that the Illinois Republican Party and the National Republican Committee will get behind someone either. I believe that the Republicans have written Illinois off and automatically give it a big red D.

  3. But when does this state ever have a real Republican (conservative) opponent?
Wasn’t planning on voting for this fool anyway, so endorsements matter not. I laugh when I get his mailings seeking money, as I throw them in the trash.
Will have to see if there is a worthwhile third party candidate to vote for, just so that I can cast a vote for someone.

    1. When did we have a conservative Senatorial candidate? In 2004 when the state central committee couldn’t find a suitable replacement candidate among the 13 million people in Illinois, so they nominated someone named Alan Keyes from Maryland. He got 25% of the vote (an all time low) and opened the way for Obama. Keyes got substantial financial support from Illinois conservatives. The rank and file refused to distribute his literature.

  4. Again, leaving Illinois voters stuck between a sponge and a mushy spot.

His anti Second Amendment stance, and support for Durbin really say who he is.

What to do? Is having another “R” there worth putting that RINO back in office? If he gets reelected, will he follow the Republican party votes this time? This is a hard decision for many of us.

    1. Putting him back in keeps Schumer from being Senate majority leader. That would be the only reason I’d vote for him. But then looking at Mushy Mitch gives cause for pause. This is a darned if you do and darned if you don’t. But there is Chad Koppe a Constitutionalist and a pro life and pro gun man.

  5. His stroke had nothing to do with this. He’s been a brain-damaged, anti-gun, POS RINO ever since Porter picked him for the 10th back in the day.

He’s a disgrace to both the office and the uniform he used to wear …

  6. Look at it this way – If the Senate goes “D”, Chuck Schumer will be majority leader of the Senate. Schumer could not be worse for gun owners. So, do we hold our collective noses and vote for Kirk (Durbin Lite)?

  7. What’s funny is that Dickhead Durbin would never return the favor and endorse him, and he is too stupid to ever realize that.

  8. Kirk is a hack, always has been.
That Peter Fitzgerald one term asshole is why we are stuck with this guy now.

  9. Back bencher is right. Scoundrel is right too.

I wouldn’t piss on Mark Kirk if he was on fire.

I might roll him into a pond to put the fire out though! LOL.

  10. Ugghhhh! With Kirks history of bad health maybe he can win, resign, and anyone appointed might be better. Duckworth no way.

  11. Like it’s been said. The only difference between Kirk and Duckworthless is the R in front of his name, but of course R stands for Rhino.
In the primary we had a choice between him and James Marter. I voted for the latter. In the general I’ll write in Mater’s name. If it allowed. To hell with those the two socialists/communists.

  12. The biggest mistake I EVER made was when I voted for Kirk, thinking he was a Republican! It didn’t take very long for him to show his true colors, though. I hope the voters join me in making SURE he is a one-term-and-done Senator! He and Durbin are BOTH in Obama’s back pocket! With Durbin that’s to be expected, but KIRK, too?
