Failboat much?  That’s the question for Lee Goodman and his dwindling band of followers after their lame showing at a pair of suburban Chicago gun stores yesterday.

Lee Goodman goes from one anti-gun non-profit t0 another in search of a paycheck instead of doing honest work.  For instance, back in 2013, he got some well-heeled anti-gun foundation or individual to pay him to run “Stop Concealed Carry”.

Just like a flim-flam artist preaching the gospel from the back of a cargo van with a sign for “FREE CANDY” on the side, if you listened to Lee Goodman preach, you would have thought he would succeed.  After all, to hear him tell it, the vast majority of Illinoisans were opposed to that “dangerous” concealed carry law.

We saw how well that quixotic quest worked for him as Illinois passed a concealed carry law in the summer of 2013.  In fact, it got passed by a bi-partisan over-ride of Governor Pat Quinn’s veto!  Translation:  It wasn’t even close.

All aboard Lee Goodman's Failboat.
All aboard Lee Goodman’s Failboat.

Remember that creepy old man preaching out behind the “FREE CANDY” cargo van?  Now the bespectacled Goodman works for “Peaceful Communities” and tries to convince people how their communities – like Lawndale and Englewood in Chicago – can become safer if the good guys can’t have guns.

He plies sympathetic media with press releases for his “Merchants of Death” tour.  MoD is how he refers to gun stores…  places where law-abiding people buy legal tools with which to protect themselves and their families from America’s criminal class.

He struck on Monday at two suburban venues:  Southland Firearms in Coal City and Rink’s Guns in Lockport, IL.  In both locations, Goodman’s motley clowns were outnumbered by pro-gun folks by a margin of nearly ten to one.  Not bad considering it was a workday and productive people usually have to be at work during the day.

Of course, the sympathetic mainstream media didn’t mention how badly Goodman’s group of radicals found themselves badly outnumberd at both locations.

Protesters demonstrate outside of Coal City and Lockport gun stores Monday

COAL CITY (Herald News) – Protesters with the volunteer group Peaceful Communities braved the rain Monday afternoon as they picketed against gun violence outside Southland Firearms in Coal City.

“We are going from one end of the state to the other demonstrating in front of gun shops and gun manufacturers,” said Lee Goodman of Northbrook. “The entire industry should take responsibility and be held accountable for their actions.”

It wasn’t until the sixth paragraph that the Herald-News even mentioned the turnout on the anti-gun side  (they didn’t mention numbers on the pro-gun side at all):

The four members of Peaceful Communities remained across the street from the store, holding their signs hoping their message would get out. Earlier in the day, Peaceful Communities also protested outside a Lockport gun store.

“We might be small in numbers but we’re big,” said the Rev. Dr. Norris E. Jackson Jr. of St. Paul AME Church in Glencoe.

…But we’re big he says? Four or five people in a metropolitan area of 8 million?  That’s not big.  That’s fringe extremism right there.

This reminds me of the old saying, We are told by gun-hating liberals not to judge Muslims by actions of extremists but the same people encourage everyone to judge all gun owners by actions of a few lunatics.”

See, Lee Goodman doesn’t live in a dangerous neighborhood, but not everyone is so lucky.  Mr. Goodman might not need a gun to help keep his dearly beloved gaggle of cats safe at home, but again, not everyone is so lucky.

One of our Guns Save Life members caught up with Mr. Goodman in Lockport out front of Rink’s and sent us this report, with some edits.

Good day John,

I went to Rinks yesterday to support the Second Amendment and see the protesters that wish to undo the Constitution (or at least the First, Second, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Tenth Amendments, for starters).

The protest began on time with all three (3) protesters and the organizer.

Three.

Then we were graced with a second wave of anti-American protesters arrive.  The last “wave” of showed up late and figured it was okay if she parked on private property of the business she was protesting.  You know how well that went over.

Now they had a total of 5 protesters.

Rinks1

The last protester was less than effective as they had neither a sign nor a t-shirt for her.  Yes, the “organizers” thought enough to bring three extra signs and three extra t-shirts.  They must have been expecting a banner turnout!

Now to be honest more than a few cars driving by honked and waved the number 0ne to the protesters. One young lady felt inspired enough by colorfully-clad “protesters” to stop in the center turn lane and ripped into them for what seemed like 5 minutes.

On the opposite side of the issue were customers and supporters of Rink’s Gun Shop.  Because it was on short notice in the middle of a workday and most productive citizens have to work, only 40 pro-civil rights supporters showed up to counter the insane clown car circus.

They pro-gun folks also filled the parking lot, keeping any other lazy anti-gun useful lemmings from joining the big rally.

Now Rinks did allow free range time during the protest, but it was not advertised.  Who knows.  Maybe some of the protesters might have been using the road trip to write off a mini-vacation, figuring they could get some free range time in by showing up for their rally, then ditching the high-vis lime-green t-shirt and doing some shooting.

Just thought you and GSL’s readers would like to hear about Lee Goodman’s latest farce of a protest.

Indeed.  Thank you!

Maybe Lee Goodman should try protesting against gang violence in Lawndale and Englewood next time!  We recommend an overnight protest to really show the good people living in those neighborhoods that he really does have their best interests at heart.

  1. He’s got mud on his face, a big disgrace, some people just put him back into his place!! (sing it) Lee Goodman and his bunch of minions can’t scrape up even a dozen protesters because it’s for a cause that has no merit.

  2. Peoria WEEK had them on the news at 6 when they were in Princeton but they did talk to the pro gun side.

  3. Good thing Mr. Goodman didn’t bring any of his cats… otherwise his failed protest woulda been a certifiable CAT-tastrophe!

  4. Sad parr is I saw footage of four of those idiots on tv. We can have 10k in Springfield at IGOLD (before the Rowes pushed GSL out… and brought attendance down by 50% or more) and we got nothing. Four moonbats gets tv news time…

  5. Another good day at the range. Hanging out with REAL Americans, supporting 2A and exercising our 1A putting the liberal wackos to shame. Way to go, folks! YEAH!!! DON’T TREAD ON ME!!! I love it!
