The Illinois Gun Lobby Facebook page is a fantastic place to stay up to date on some of the legislative machinations happening in the Illinois General Assembly.

You should bookmark it, trust me.  And “Like” it too.

Today, Gabby Giffords and her Americans for Responsible Solutions took a humiliating kick in the teeth in the Illinois General Assembly.  Their gun dealer licensing scheme – which was really a gun rationing, gun store bankrupting, local government banning gun shops, free reign to “inspect” dealers to no end, and fees galore bill went down in a flaming defeat.

This bill’s sponsors wouldn’t have brought it up for a vote – after six tries to modify it – if they thought it would lose the final vote.  But they did bring it up for a vote and it did lose – big-time.   They only mustered 43 of the 61 votes needed for passage after pulling out all the stops and spending a ton of money.

The Illinois Gun Lobby people put up a nice post on what happened today in the Illinois General Assembly.  You can bet Gabby’s ears are still burning after what happened today.

In a crushing defeat for the carpetbagging gun control group Americans for Responsible Solutions, the Illinois House rejected their attempt to run small gun dealers out of business and institute a 3 year ban on firearm purchases for collectors who sell more than 10 firearms in a year.

in a 43-55 vote the House rejected what has been estimated at a $3000 new tax on small mom & pop gun stores. Almost 30 democrats did not support the bill and ARS and ICHV are almost 20 votes short for their latest gun control scheme.

They should take the hint, even the democratically controlled legislature is not interested in their taxes, and bans on gun stores and gun owners.

However the bill is not dead and we will wait to see if they try again or get the message. . .

Here is the roll call for the voting.

See your representative voted to support this onerous scheme?  It’s time to let them know you – as a constituent of theirs – are quite unhappy with their misguided support of this bill to ration away your rights.

And you should probably join us in letting your friends, family, co-workers and everyone else in your circle of friends know how they voted on this bill that would ration you to 10 gun transactions (buy, sell or trade) per year.  Actually, a trade would count as two transactions.

If you had to dump a collection because of money problems or whatever, you would be barred from buying any guns for three years.

The Illinois State Rifle Association says they’ll be back Sunday to try it again.

So don’t let off!

  1. mark shepherd should be ashamed for parading his brain damaged wife around. I’m sure bloomberg is making it worth his time. shepherd is a disgusting example of a human being.

  2. Didn’t think the Dems had any common sense, especially after Wed night. Are the gun grabbers hoping the Republicans will go to church instead of voting. Well God wants us to fight evil too. Rot in hell! You won’t need our guns there.

  3. I wouldn’t put it past them to bring giffords herself to Springfield to try to save their precious bill. Weren’t these the same jackasses who stormed into Illinois to show us rubes how to do it?

  4. So misguided I don’t even have words for it. Stay out of my state…we have more than enough ignorant and misguided citizens already. You are attempting to address the wrong end of the problem.

  5. Everyone feels sorry for Gifford’s injury, but, they shouldn’t use her to damage good honest people’s businesses. After all, guns are not about a few people being shot, guns are not about a kid accidentally shooting himself or others, no. guns are much more important, the guns are about our Freedom! We won our freedom from the British with guns and we only keep that liberty because we keep our guns.
