Kids love guns!

And kids really love big guns, like this 105mm gun on an M60 tank.

These young people had no shortage of neat things to investigate at the American Museum of Military Vehicles in Crown Point, IN on Saturday, September 20th at the Northwest Indiana Prepares event.  While parents were listening to preparedness presentations on a variety of subjects, the star of the event for the kids was a working M60 tank.

While museum staff didn’t fire up the beast, kids were allowed to see for themselves what the interior of a tank looks like (and they figured out how to manually rotate the turret, of course).

The tank does run and the museum takes it, and a Viet Nam-era armored personnel carrier and a tow missile launcher vehicle out for rides for young people from time to time.

  1. Those like like some happy, fun-loving kids. Best of all, they are out of the house, off the computer and enjoying exploring their world.

  2. Unless that is a rain plug, that is not a real working tank unless you can shoot it, even if it does run. IMO.

    1. How many running tanks (aside from being neutered of weapons) do most civilians get a chance to spend time inside and go for a ride?
